PM notifications

#1 Post by LAT » Sat Nov 14, 2009 1:28 pm

I seem to have stopped getting e-mail notifications when I have a PM. Has anyone else noticed this? Or is it likely to be something to do with my e-mail server (yahoo)?

No, I noticed it too. It doesn't really bother me though. I'm on here checking the message boards at least as often as I check my emails.

I had to switch that off. It was driving me to distraction.

I switched it off as well because I usually went on puzzlebrains a lot more regularly than I checked my email.

I turned mine off ages ago, not that I get any PM's anyway.

Laura: I think it's somewhere in the user control panel, to turn them on/off.

But I haven't switched mine off as I do like to get the notifications. I admit I always delete them straight away but it is a quick and easy way for me to know I have received a message on here.

Yeah, I had a look earlier today when the thread first appeared, to see if I'd managed to change a setting by mistake, but I couldn't find where it would be. Never mind.

I'm getting PM notification emails (they always seem to be despatched at intervals so I might have seen and read the PM 10 minutes before the email notification turns up).

But what I don't get is how I can have minus 1 unread message!
Unread messages at minus 1?

That's got something to do with deleting messages I think. On another board I have been on, it used to pretend there were 65,536 unread messages, which is somewhat more alarming!
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.
All of my puzzles are simple and obvious. For certain values of "simple" and "obvious".

I expect the system is automatically deleting messages I send you Sparkout. 'Cos I'm over my limit, and they're all drivel anyway.

Well I've not received any PMs from you. (Well, not since Tuesday, anyway.)

Aye, and it's reset my count of unread messages to 1 (and then 0 when I read it).

I should think because you need to turn off "Daylight Savings Time" settings by going to you "User Control Panel" (click the link near the top of the page) and use the "Board preferences" link in the Options list on the left. Then for the "Summer Time/DST is in effect" option choose the "no" button and click "Submit".
