Site details

#1 Post by Scurra » Mon Sep 29, 2008 12:58 pm

For those of you who may be interested, this site is built from two Open Source Content systems.
Joomla runs the front-end part of the site (the puzzle database and articles.)
phpbb runs the forum part of the site (where you are now.)

A neat piece of software (rokbridge) means that when you log-in on the main site, you are automatically logged in on the forum too, and when you log-out you are returned to the main site if you were in the forum. However, there are sometimes glitches as the two systems have to exchange information, so if you get an error screen, it may be down to this. If you click the "Home Page" link on this error page, you should find that the main site page reappears. Likewise, sometimes you may get an odd message or two when you try to log in. Simply repeat the process and everything should work out fine.

You can only change your password and contact details on the main site, not from within the Forum. If you do not wish your email details to be available to others, you will need to change the first setting on the Board Preferences option of your User Control Panel.
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.
All of my puzzles are simple and obvious. For certain values of "simple" and "obvious".

Following the update, only the forum is now found at www.puzzlebrains.co.uk; the puzzles are all on the other site.

As a result, the ability to change your password has now been restored to the User Control Panel - if you look at Profile - Edit Account Settings, you will find the details there.
