Re: Embarkation of Queen of Sheba

Re: Embarkation of Queen of Sheba
i think we all had one wrong flag as the picture was not of the best quality

Re: Embarkation of Queen of Sheba
I don't blame the picture, I blame my old eyes. They just don't work as good as they used to.
Re: Embarkation of Queen of Sheba
The version on the website is a lot easier to see (brighter and mostly larger too.)
[Part of the problem also stems from making the flags look as though they belonged in the picture - which meant that some of them had to be smaller than I would have liked.]

I like the picture - thats my two pence worth!!!
Re: Embarkation of Queen of Sheba
Well I have to confess that that picture and the Arnolfinis are definitely in my top ten favourite pictures* - how could I resist the opportunity to turn them into puzzles?!

I was so stuck on one idea the "bigger picture" didn't hit right away until pnward made an "obvious" post. Then it was easier, except one flag. But that I might blame on my monitor.

Re: Embarkation of Queen of Sheba
well, finally got there after some nudging. Think I'm going colour blind. Website pic was a bit better, in that it made me wonder if I was seeing the colour I thought I was, but when I compared it with the flag next door, it didn't look that similar, which it should have, and that threw me by making me think my initial idea for the colour must have been right after all. (ok, that wasn't the best explanation of my problem, but I suspect that you know what I mean)
But hey, got there. Thanks BB!

Because he is evil and twisted. Didn't you realise that? That affable nature and wry sense of humour is just a smoke screen you know!!

Yay done! It took me about half an hour to enter the right thing into the answer box, but I've done it.
Re: Embarkation of Queen of Sheba
Went up to London today and was wandering through the National Gallery when I found myself looking at this painting. Said to my sister " I know that, but last time I saw it it had flags on"
