I think I've got the answers to these now, but don't know what to do with them.

still haven't got that many lines on this, can someone please confirm that the words are 5, 4 and 3 letters, always in that order, and the words don't anagram on their way across the line

Edit: Change that - I've got enough of the other answers to make me think the above is right, however, I wouldn't mind checking my first words for the 4th and 6th line. (I don't have any words at all for the 5th, but am pretty sure of the others)

Thanks!

I tried google for the Spanish island, and found one that was for sale, complete with beach and extinct volcano, but it didn't seem to have three letters.

There isn't a 3 letter spanish word for islandis there?

It's definitely the name of an island, not a word meaning island.

That's what I thought. I just wondered if there was an abbreviation like we might say isle, but I'm clearly on the wrong track as usual.

Yay! Think I've got all the words now, but now have to work out what do next.....

Oh, and I found that spanish island for sale. Pity you weren't allowed to build on it. Liked the 'one careful owner in the last 50 years'. I found it was finding the right words to google the tricky bit...

I certainly didn't recognise it as an answer!

I'd like to thank LAT for standing over me and prodding me through this and the surreal crossword. It's amazing how much easier the answers come when there is someone on hand to pm with your wilder ideas. (Especially when they turn out to be scurra's wild ideas) :o

Of course when you're looking, it seems like there must be some way of arranging things to make it seem plausible, but sometimes we just never look down at what's under our noses.

My ownly problem now is the drunkard - my name PAUL fits but I cant get the word either side to fit with it.

Well that's sort of the idea, you know... Otherwise how can I ensure you have those sleepless nights?
