BassBloke - I LOVE you Mother - excellent plan.

My parents cycled all round Europe (before I was born), so I was on 2 wheels pretty early. I was taught to swim as a babe, so never thought twice about that skill.

My Dad also taught me to drive, and totally 'over-taught' me in comparison to what I'd need on the test. Hill starts, in reverse, moving up the hill and round a corner, all on the banks down to the Fish Quay

The one I seemed to miss totally was the two wheels and a motor combination.

LAT I love the thought of you taking a birthday party on a walk across the firing ranges   Did you have targets painted on your backs?

Cheers. BB.
When I was due to start my driving lessons my dad took me for some practice round Donington Park when they used to have to old practice lap in his old Wolseley, it was great fun - not sure it did me any good though as it took me 4 tests to pass my test!

I started to watch that video and had to shut it off. Katherine was behind me and when I heard "oh that looks cool" I shut it off!

The first thing I ever drove was a tractor on my dad's weekend farm. A car was a piece of cake after driving that beast  He also had a semi-truck that he taught us to drive and a snow-dozer type machine.

All that practice didn't do me much good though. The first winter I had my license I bought a new subaru. First snow storm, I hit a patch of black ice and totalled it. Second car was a corvette, first snow storm with that car, I hit a patch of black ice and totalled it. Third car was an audi, first snow storm with that car, and I bought snow chains before hitting the road

When I was about 10 I drove my friends ride-on lawnmower and her dad nicknamed me as 'kangeroo' because I kept stopping and starting and jumping forwards!

I encouraged my son's interest in kayaking. He's a good swimmer and it just seemed such a nice, wholesome outdoor thing to do. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw this, particularly the end (and he tells me that this is "mild"). He's in the green kayak ("Fresher Ben").

Crikey! I think I'd have the screaming abdabs if I thought one of my kids was doing that. Mind you it does look fun, I'd love to have a go!! :D

They'd probably have the screaming abdabs if they thought you were doing it. (Or offer to push you over the edge  )

OH took my 3 year old daughter climbing with him, his brother, sister in law, dad and my middle son at Portishead Quarry. She was roped to him and quite safe, but I stood at the bottom having a fit.

OI!!

I don't need anyone to push me over the edge. I'm quite capable of doing that all by myself.
