Re: The Cypher Files
Just starting this and enjoying it so far, although clue 5 and 12 are a bit misleading! There are some cool bits as well though.

Well, I should've known it was too good to last. Has anyone solved 16?

I'm annoyed with #13 atm. I don't understand why it's not the answer.
(I've gone beyond that point [I liked #16 ] but the codes do block progress.)

Well, I finished the mission (!) Some fairly good puzzles in there, but wow, that story? I wonder what Mr. Chassapakis was on when he wrote that?!

Re: The Cypher Files
I've rubbed out all my answers and given the book to my friend! Which one was it? There is a very slim chance I might remember!

The one where you have to trace the outlines and it gives you three doors and then says to multiple by 13

Re: The Cypher Files
Oh, I remember which one you mean, but can't remember specifics about the numbers. I seem to remember that when you traced all the doors, there was one which was missing?

Re: The Cypher Files
What sort of puzzles are these? I am wondering if I would have any chance of solving any myself or if they are the sort of things that I will get nowhere without loads of help. (increasingly the case these days! )
Re: The Cypher Files
They are pretty much all 'one-step' puzzles, in the sense that if you think about them too much, you'll get them wrong!
And yes, there are a few that are just aggravating because your answer is better than the intended one...
But there are also a couple that are genuinely entertaining and do things that you don't expect.
On the whole it's probably worthwhile although it does show up the limitations of that format a bit. The narrative aspect is mildly entertaining though.
