Thanks all, I have had a lovely day with lunch out at our favourite restaurant in London. We also had a short walk through Green Park where there is a herd of elephant statues. We didn't know they were there so it was a great surprise to see them and they were beautiful! I might even post a photo later if I get my act together!

They were so lovely I couldn't resist stroking one! I think they are for sale to raise money for charity but unfortunately probably beyond my budget!

Now isn't that the best kind of art? :D There is something so glorious about carved wood. Some of my absolutely favourite things are made of carved wood. For our 25th wedding anniversary Katherine and David got us some beautiful salad servers made out of carved olive wood. Every time I get them out I have to stroke them first, then wash them, before they are used to serve salad! I also have a turned wood bowl and a wooden candle holder which was made from the remnants of the walnut tree that grew in my Mum's garden. Very precious to me. :D

I think these are made from something called lantana camara. I do know what you mean about wood though and can well imagine how precious your candle holder is.

Belated wishes for your birthday! We already have the proof that it was a happy one :D . It sounds as if you were having a good time anyway - and then to come across this must have been a real treat  They are so beautiful. Thanks for sharing it.
