In case I disappear off the face of the universe...

#1 Post by Bunnylump » Mon Apr 13, 2009 12:47 am

Could I please apologise if I appear to suddenly log off when in mid conversation. I'm having the most horrendous problems with my computer, and I strongly suspect it may be about to die.

I rather doubt that. :x

Don't leave us Bunny.

Of corse you can sort it out, you have children and anything to do with computers children can sort out. :)

 One of the myths I LOVE to expose as a fraud ;)

I keep telling people, kids are comfotable with technology - but if they are any good then they have been taught well or they have learned out of interest.

My two just look disparagingly at our computer and say " that computer is crap. It's so slow compared to our laptops." Helpful.

And no, I'm not planning on vapourising, just yet.

Funnily I get told that, just because my son's can sing, dance and make the tea and mine can't. Even theis new one is "not up to much"

* shakes head * Kids!!!!

Tell them that computers are like cars - if all you need to do is pop to the shops and go on the occasional holiday jaunt you do NOT need a fully tuned rally car.

Then remind them that power is no good without control (but make sure your control is better than theirs before you do) ;)

Absolutely, MBH.
(With my tech hat on, it's why the little "netbooks" are proving so successful in the same way that the old Amstrad 8256 was so successful 25 years ago: because someone realised that something that is fairly cheap but does one thing really well is often far more useful than something that does a bit of everything badly.)

Just think....... somebody must have given their teenage lad an Amstrad all those years ago, with the innocent thought that it would keep him quiet.....
And look what that has led to.....

Can't imagine Scurra as a noisy teenager. I've only met him once, but he seemed quite quiet :)

Ah, the quiet ones are the worst. I've always been noisy, so was obviously a perfect teenager.

Oh I was definitely as noisy as the next man.

I DID fall off the face of the universe. Since January my laptop has been in and out 3 times (not) getting repaired. At last John Lewis have given up and to their credit have given us a brand new laptop. So I'm back in business. Needless to say I haven't managed much of the current magazine so will maybe wait for the next one and start again. But it's nice to be back.
