Re: Today I've mostly bin...
I took car to friendly local garage this morning but they couldn't get their diagnosis system to identify the fault so I am going to pay for the ex-dealership garage to check tomorrow to see if they can tell me what is wrong. Kia garage in Guildford quoted me 20th August as the first day they could look at it and the one in Woking wasn't much better but they did say it would be the end of July before they could get it booked in.

Oh, for goodness sake! You would think that if it was a warranty issue they would prioritise it?!

Feeling much happier. The garage decided it was actually a historical fault which the system had rectified but which still showed up in a lit warning light. They have reset it and know which sensor to replace should the light come back on. Fingers crossed it is now sorted and £55 doesn't seem too bad for peace of mind!

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Well that's good news!
Cars are too clever for their own good sometimes! Gone are the days you can do anything to your own car. When I first started driving, I could not only change spark plugs but knew how to take the rotor arm off the engine (as the doors wouldn't lock! )I could clean out a blocked air filter, change a wheel and change bulbs in the side lights if they blew. Now, all I can do is fill up the windscreen wash!

That's pretty impressive! Not sure I could ever have done those things.

It was pretty much a case of having to as having clapped out cars and no money for mechanics!

Hmm. I did only learn to drive when I had one child and another on the way. It seemed like a good idea to be able to get them to school/nursery etc. But I never learnt any of your skills

Ah well, there's the difference then. I was driving from 17 years old and had my first car when I was 19!

Having a great family holiday in the Highlands of Scotland - and yes, the Joker is here too, as well as Eirian and Thomas. Staying in a lovely country apartment not far from Fort William, thanks to a helpful recommendation from Sparkout - much appreciated! We're thoroughly enjoying visiting some of our favourite places and discovering some new ones.
Re: Today I've mostly bin...
I've been out in Rum for 3 days this week, with some pretty awful weather. Jack (of the BoBBs) was there too, but he also went out again to Muck on Thursday. I couldn't go, as I was taking Mrs S to a hospital appointment on Friday. Meanwhile this was Jack's taxi back from farm barge to Muck shorebase.
I do feel sorry for the Brain family. We've had really terrible weather all year. No summer at all in the Highlands
It's calmer today so he should be back to the mainland today ok.I do feel sorry for the Brain family. We've had really terrible weather all year. No summer at all in the Highlands
Re: Today I've mostly bin...
We've actually not done too badly this week with a couple of really nice days to enjoy the Highlands and revisit some old favourite places from past trips. Today we got to the HIghland Gatherinig at Glenfinnan which is quite an event! It was admittedly a bit grey and damp but the mist over the mountains just added to the atmosphere.

Meeting the Brains, and making Eirian jealous with pictures of where I get to live

Ooh, glad you all got to meet up! Shame the weather wasn't a bit more friendly!

Sometimes (albeit very rarely this year) the sun does come out.

Been sorting through photos from recent holiday. Here is one I couldn't resist taking - and sharing with you. Taken at a school in Tournon in France. Guess who it made me think of?
