What is it with the brainy ones, I have one like that, no common sense at all
/me ponders her brother and would comment if she thought she could get away with it!

This is your other brother, right?

[No, there isn't one, in case you were wondering.]

All of my puzzles are simple and obvious. For certain values of "simple" and "obvious".

This is getting to be like a soap opera. You needn't have used a fictitious family tree for the Sagittarius puzzle in the Seeing Stars issue!

Hey, I could have lent him mine :?

That would have been confusing. Father maried three times, (snap) half siblings and step siblings coming out of the woodwork. No natural nieces or nephews- they are all either step children or adopted. Between my OH, myself, OH's sister and her late husband we have 13 ( no, that is not a mistake) marriages between us. And that just skims the pond :D

Suddenly I feel monumentally boring.

Oh, and Eirian, I have a brother like that too (he's the one who thought it'd be a good plan to bid for a full sized star trek pinball machine on e bay, won, and hadn't mentioned it to his poor long suffering wife, it's still in their dining room). And a mother (who has an IQ or 170, is 84, and has hobbies including Azed crossword, learning Ancient English, geology and bacteriology) but thought it was ok to let dodgy workmen up in her loft when no one else was around. They sprayed strange brown stuff all over the inside of the loft (why?), charged her £300 and disappeared off the face of the planet.

  Not so much a dining room as a room to collect random junk he likes to acquire or make. He was told he had to make a shed at the end of the garden as a "games room" to accommodate it. What did he do? He started on a massive project, making something more akin to a small cottage (flint walls, pitched roof, gabled porch) which took him 2 years to build, and now refuses to let anyone use it because he likes it so much (can watch the badgers playing in the field out of the window). Pinball machine still in the dining room with Captain Kirk grinning at them.

I can't get in my dining room without tripping over golf clubs and cricket bats. It seems to have turned into a sports pavillion while my back was turned. :?
