Hope you have a brilliant time giraffe (and Kingsley and Fernando). We had a wonderful 3 nights in Watergate Bay back in March. Wonderful views and really good food.

Oh no! When in rainy cornwall you need to go to Land's End and look into the teeth of the gale blowing rain horizontally into your face!

at least thats what i remember doing :D

And hope you have a lovely time. The Eden Project (despite whatever mutterings you may have had) is a fantastic place, and I'm sure they'll be pleasantly surprised.

I'd second that. I was pleasantly surprised.

We got soaked this morning. :( It was dry so we thought we'd do a general look round the area and pinpoint beaches with rockpools, places to go back to etc. We went to Tintagel first. Got out of the car, walked half a mile towards the castle, the heavens opened and despite kagoules, we were soaked to the skin (undies too! )from the waist down within seconds. The rain was the horizontal wet sort, so thick you could barely see. So we sheltered in an ice cream shop until the worst was past (Fernando will testify to the quality of the Coffee Mocha ice cream!) and then went home to change.

So I have pinched OH's 3G card and am sitting in the bar overlooking the swimming pool while K, F and L take dad for a swim.

planning a possible weekend break to Devon - totnes sort of area (had a nice holiday with some mates and we visited dartmouth and some other lovely places which I want to take oh and the family to see.

Does anyone know anywhere nice to stay - perhaps an inn etc.

As there are five of us this usually proves a problem.

Well you should get some suggestions - I do believe you have two fellow puzzlers living close to Totnes! I'll point Wulfruna in this directions for you.
Definitely worth a visit, I love the area, and there's that 3 way trip you can do - Totnes, by boat down the River Dart to Dartmouth, steam train to Paignton and open top bus back to Totnes (or the other way round).
We'll be down there in September to visit Wulf (for some reason webcams don't satisfy the need to cuddle her grandson), but our trips out will be a little more restricted than in the past this time I think!
Perseverance: - the courage to ignore the obvious wisdom and carry on anyway

If you can get cuddles via web-cam sorted out you could make a FORTUNE

Hi Eirian
I love the idea of the three way trip - just need to find a nice inn to stay in now.

I love going down to that part of the country too but for some reason haven't been for ages. Daughter goes to uni at exeter so I really have no excuse. Enjoy your visit to your grandson:)

I agree that Totnes has always been a favourite place for us - and would endorse Eirian's recommendation of the "Round Robin" circular trip. Sorry that I can't come up with a firm recommendation of somewhere to stay, as we have not lived here in Devon for long enough to know those sort of places. I would think that one of the village inns just outside Dartmouth might be worth trying - might not be as busy as the main towns.
As for the cuddles - I'm the one who can't wait for that visit from my grandson..... but at least the webcam is a wonderful bonus now that we can get tantalising glimpses of him smiling at his Mum and Dad, even if we can't reach out and touch for ourselves.....
