I'm so tempted to put a bubble over pic 2 but I have no wish to upset his uncle

Wonderful news, congratulations to you both, and love and wishes for Eirian and <insert name here>*.

* Yes I know he's got a name, but this way it doesn't have to be spoilered - and maybe he could end up with the PB login name of Gooseberry ;)

Good luck to Uncle Scurra too - you will probably need it sometime in the future.

Quick update :- Eirian and Thomas are now safely home and are sleeping. Eirian has promised to log onto the forums tomorrow to read all your posts.

Both the cats are very suspicious of this new small person who is making only quiet sounds (for now!!).

Thank you from the both of us for all your posts and stay tuned for more pics in due course (and I would welcome a caption comp for the second piccie).

well, yes, I'm home and Thomasis finally sleeping before his next feed, so thought I'd take the opportunity to see what Sigur has posted....

Think I was remarkably lucky considering what it could have been like! And yes, I had wondered if anyone had spotted me logging on on Saturday morning - needed the laptop on to time contractions (we neither of us own any thing as mundane as a watch!).

He's feeding well (trick is to get him to stop!), which is good, and not really sleeping, which isn't (but also not surprising for 2 days old), but we're working on it! Thanks for the good wishes.

Midwife at the hospital was v.impressed with our 'civilised' room when she came in to check us at one point - baby sleeping, Sigur reading his book and I was puzzling (just normal ones, not PB ones though - didn't take the mag with me in case of damage/loss).

Anyway, I appear to be hearing noises from the other room, so I suspect feeding time has arrived! Be back later!

Enjoy the time when he's young like this.

Congratulations!

My mother was passing when I had the pic on screen, and she went all gooey over it!
I'm an uncle myself, and at the start I was a bit nervous around this new member of the family. But eventually I settled mentally and I'm comfortable with him now. He's now 10.

Does "settled mentally" equate to having got over the fact you are no longer the youngest male member of the family?

My son is still struggling 4 years down the line- although he adores his nephew. He insists so vehemently that he is only joking we all know that really he isn't

Not a lot he can do about it is there?

No, "settled mentally" means that after a few months of wariness and not actually participating in his life, I got over a mental block and started directly interacting with him.

Goodness, you are late, aren't you! When I saw this thread pop up on my 'new posts', I was trying to work out which of us had just given birth, and how they'd managed to keep it quiet!!!!
