Well, I didn't even get my No 1 issue until just before Christmas! So I'm pretty pleased that I had solved quite a lot of it by New Year.... and without any help either, just in case anyone was suspicious ;)
I think I even know what the overall puzzle is about too, so am very close to completion. Or am I kidding myself?
So... the time has come to open up the wonders of Issue 2 - I'll soon be catching up with the rest of you

 From a couple of those statements there, I can assure you that you are not 'catching up', but have far outstripped me already :) You demonstrate good evidnce for the genetic handing down of 'talents'.

You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it.

I think MBH may ask if you are offering services.......................

No, Gill and I are the ones doing that.
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.
All of my puzzles are simple and obvious. For certain values of "simple" and "obvious".

this whole issue has been a learning process for me. I've not done an Alphactor before but have seen them on that other site. Cryptic crosswords? Never heard of it until now, and Wikipedia isn't that helpful, but I'm plugging along. Darn work for getting in the way just as I get my issue. Fish? They are in the tank, or on the dinner plate. In a puzzle magazine? What were you thinking? Don't you know they can't breath out of water? I think you just put those in there to make me feel even more stupid and inadequate than I am.

I feel like an absolute moron knowing that young people half my age can solve these things and I don't even know where to begin
