I'd absolutely echo that. 2010 was my worst year ever. I'd find it hard to believe that anything would be as bad as that again, so here's to a really good one for everyone. :D

I had a nice new year's evening - went to a friend's for a meal (the usual 8) and had a great Only Connect game (thank you for all the contributions, folks!! :D ). We went out into the field and could see all the fireworks across the valley, let off 4 lanterns (and watched them join the other 30 or 40 which were floating along). Quite an early finish for a change - got home about 3am.

And Fraggle - how exciting!! :D :D We will of course expect to see ALL the photos! :D

Oh, and by the way, my phone went berzerk yesterday - so some of the messages I sent didn't go, and some repeated themselves 3 times... it WASN'T just the copious amounts of drink to blame...

We received a very strange message last night. It was a text sent to the house phone, so had some electronic woman speaking with no punctuation and in a monotone. It seemed to be wishing us a happy new year and was signed WX . We've been racking our brains as to who we know whose name begins with W. :?

I got one like that just before Christmas and it said
"Ta for pressie yours is on the way sorry no apostrophe on this phone Sue"
and because Ta and Pressie aren't proper words she mangled the message completely ( tarfer prayer C) and the only bit that I could understand was the bit about the apostrophe. Fortunately she also sent it to my mobile.

Happy New Year to everyone -- particularly those who have had a rough 2010.
Going out at midnight (just to come back in) I noticed that the fireworks were well down on previous years - maybe the recession is really biting - and that there were many Chinese Lanterns in the sky - first time I have seen them locally

Happy New Year everyone - wishing us all lots of puzzling and lots of happiness :D
ooops - maybe that should be the other way round, although I reckon that the first is guaranteed, while the second isn't.....
That isn't meant to be a damp squib, it's just that I'm feeling really angry about the horrendous prospects ahead for many of us this year when the impact of government policies really start to bite. However, this is not the place for a political rant - just that I don't anticipate a good year in general terms. But that shouldn't stop us having a great year in personal terms and making the best of what we have :D :D
