Today's post

#1 Post by Bunnylump » Tue Dec 20, 2011 1:24 pm

Thank you PB for my mysterious Christmas card, which has just popped through my door.

I have also read the letter with interest, and have a couple of observations to make.

1. Puzzle weekend.
Sounds like a fabulous idea, but please don't make it the weekend with the bank holiday (around the 5th) because I am away then.

2. I hear what you are saying about the repeated puzzles, and I have a thought. While all that's going on, if we have already done some of the puzzles, why don't we have a big "catch up" session for those who don't ever quite get to finish puzzles? I thought it might be quite nice if people had ones they had done the first part of and never quite got to the end, we could all club together and help folk out on the appropriate threads? What do you think? :D

3. I'd like to say a big thank you to all those involved in this enterprise. An unbelievable amount of work goes on behind the scenes, and I for one think PB is worth every penny. In particular, thank you to Scurra for sticking with it. As the letter states, he's pretty much working full time PLUS from what I can make out. Scurra - it's about time you actually made at least a little bit out of this, so I for one am 100% behind you. Good luck with the publications, we're all rooting for you.

Also, of course, Gill (and Wulfruna) - where would we be without you? :D The very best of luck to you too with the new enterprise, I am sure it will be a great success. I'm also equally sure that LAT will make an excellent "backside kicker"!!

Wot she said!

My thought on reading that there would be less issues was "Oh good, I might get to finish some of the ones I haven't".

I think you are all wonderful, and you all continue to amaze me with the puzzles and the organisation that goes on behind the scenes.

Post's arrived, nothing from Puzzlebrains though. :(

It always baffles me how stuff from Gill in Leeds can get to Devon and Scotland quicker than it can travel the 10 miles to me.

Because it goes to Scotland, gets sorted and then has to get all the way to Leeds

We could have a damned good try, Kathlyn. I was wondering if we should let everyone sift through unsolved / unstarted puzzles, then post of the appropriate thread where you've got to. Then, as we are now allowed to post spoilers, we could all pile in and get people going properly. I'm thinking, none of your namby pamby cryptic hints, I mean real ones (with spoilers). We could even do checks on spoilered answers...that might help those who are also stuck on the same puzzle...

I'm assuming this is all OK with you PB management people? I also think, if we could be forewarned when we are likely to get repeat puzzles, then that would give people a chance to have a look through and see what they want to ask.

This bit of Devon didn't get any either perhaps ther is leaves on the line at Dawlish, that get blamed for most things not happening in Torbay, but be warned if wyses99 has her's there will be trouble

Anyway I agree with the purple rabbit (I usually do) I think I need a big catch up as I have not finished an issue of round the world except for the 1st one

Thank you for my card! :D I agree with Bunny's post. It's been a very difficult year for my family, I haven't been able to puzzle or post very much, but I really want Puzzlebrains to continue!

Got my card yesterday, thanks. I think everything I'd want to say has already been said, you have my full support too. I think Bunny's idea of catch up sessions is a fantastic idea - I have all my old copies and am only too happy to dust them off and give nudges/prods/wallops etc.

I agree with everything that pebbles says. I have had a horrible couple of years and I always have good intentions when the mag comes in but after a few days I get distracted. Hopefully come the New Year I'll be able to make a fresh start and maybe find the answers to the puzzles I've abandoned. Until then thank you all and a Happy Christmas to everyone. :D :D
Oh my mag arrived this morning so northern post is doing ok but there is no snow this year!!
