The plate looks massive! We laughed so much when we saw this picture.

I was worse than that!
He was absolutely lovely all day!
We had so much fun!
My mother was delighted when he climbed on her lap to read him a story.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Getting back to normal - went back to work today. My Dutch friend went home yesterday they enjoyed themselves .. But we are shattered - too much eating and drinking. T and H were bemused by Christmas Crackers and did not know what to make of them and the riduculous jokes. I,m afraid it was lost in the translation
Poor Olly did not know wha make of them - too many legs and not enough room on his favourite chairs, he took to hiding behind the sofa. Olly was given a fantastic Christmas present from our friend whas 90 in the summer. It is a 4 foot long cylinder with 2 holes in the side and has a ball dangling from 1 end. It folds almost flat for storage. He haen having fun running through it and has also fallen asleep in it - so he has given it his seal of approval. At the weeken I shall try and get a photo so any of you cat lovers out there can see it.
Today we have had yet more winter gales - hopefully they will die later. I hope you all had a great time

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
OUTSIDE. Yay.
Went for a nice walk with friends in the countryside then did an impromptu meal back here. A more random selection of food you have never seen. I did Thai green curry, Gugerati green beans, rice, but then big pile of cheese, ice cream, Christmas cake.
Well, that's what I had in, so that's what they got.
I don't do planning.
Hopefully tomorrow I can have a serious pyjama day. I'm fed up with being sociable and going out.
I want to return to grumpy old curmudgeonliness.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Making the New Year game. This year, I'm doing a version of the Crypton Factor. It's got a rather more rude name than that though.
I've got knowledge questions all based on the incredibly high-brow 1970s TV themes and songs I have recorded.
So we'll be doing singing and acting parts from Camberwick Green, identifying missing people from the Wacky Races and getting people to do "Danno" impressions from Hawaii 5-0.
Then comes the observation round (spotting things from a Scooby Doo excerpt).
After this is the technical challenge - making card towers and pictures with tangram tiles.
All I need now is the physical challenge. Not too sure what to do about that - can't really set up an assault course in the living room... so was wondering about balance tests (should be amusing after wine). Anyone got any other suggestions, please?

how about a treasure hunt?
hide little obcects around the house/living room and you give them clues as they hand them back to you...
get them thinking and scrambling around

You could set up a very simple obstacle course but get them to complete it with a balloon between the knees and a book balanced on their heads.
Or you could substitute an orange and a cushion for the balloon and book.
Or lay out some thick tape or similar on the floor on a straight line. Then get people to walk along it with their eyes closed.
Or make people carry grains of rice or split peas/lentils from a saucer at one side of the room to one the other side - using chopsticks or straws.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
How about the 'Mummy game'? You need a loo roll per team of two and the team that wraps the loo paper round the other person first to make the Mummy wins.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
What about the sort of things they do in that glass cube thing. (Can't think of any off hand as I haven't seen it for ages.)

I'm sure she will manage it with her usual tact and diplomacy instead.
And failing that, a big kick with a pointy shoe.
But having said that, maybe Scurra will turn over a new leaf and become all organised and on task. *

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
yesterday I was mostly solving the fuel crisis.
When we filled up with petrol for our trip home, our trip computer in the car said we had a range of 375miles. 250 miles later when we arrived home, it said we had a range of 375 miles
Unfortunately the range is determined by the mpg for the previous tank, and as we drove down not that efficiently (well, the roads are quiet on Christmas Day), and drove back much more efficiently (not our choice, the traffic was heavier, so we couldn't go quite as fast!), I suspect we just confused it!

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Feeling pretty pleased with myself. I made pre-festive resolutions and I've stuck to them.
1. To have a drink but stay sober so no hangovers. I've watched at least 3 drunken very late nights take place around me. Once no-one would notice my absence I went very quietly to bed and was up bright and early and cooking big greasy breakfasts looking at faces like they shouldn't have had.
2. To take a daily walk along the beach. That has come to an enforced stop now. Some I did in brilliant sunshine in Spain and others in whipping wind in Withernsea.
3. To sort out my carp. The caravan has been done and I've done 2 rooms at home today.
4. To do something for nothing. I joined the wrvs and start in our local hospital on 5th January.
Now for the New Year resolutions.
