Tragic News

#1 Post by Bunnylump » Tue May 22, 2012 4:40 pm

I just received this reply to a message to our lovely tricia.
Sorry Bunnylump to be the bearer of bad news. Trish died while we were on holiday in Rome. This was on Sunday 29th April. I have only now got her home.

Christine
I am devastated, as I am sure you will all be.

I have passed on our heartfelt sympathy to Christine, and have asked her if she will check messages please so that I can pass on any messages of condolence and support from all her friends on here.

Oh my goodness, I'm stunned. How very sad. I don't know what else to say. My sympathy goes out to her family and friends. I thought of her the other day and wondered when she was getting back off her holidays and was looking forward to 'speaking' to her again. I will miss her.

That's really sad. She was so looking forward to going away. I had noticed she had gone uncharacteristicly quiet, but assumed that she was busy catching up after her holiday. Do pass on condolences.

How very sad! :(
She was so looking forward to her holiday in Rome, what an awful way for it to end.
Her poor sister must be in total shock. Please pass on condolences from me too.

As I have an address, I've written a letter to Christine (on behalf of all of us at PB) telling her just how much we will all miss Tricia.

I'm also going to send flowers from all of us. If I can find out the details via the internet I will send them for her funeral. If not I will send them to Christine simply saying we are thinking of her too.

That's a really nice idea, Gill, thank you for doing that. Last night I was so shocked I couldn't speak. Today I just keep thinking how much I will miss her. She was such a chirpy, upbeat person. She always took a real interest in how everyone was on what everyone was doing - often passing an encouraging comment when people were having a hard time.

Do you remember how she was when she first realised she was starting to "get" cryptic crosswords? Like a cat with two tails. And didn't you just love the way that everything had to stop for the rugby? Another thing I really loved was the way she remained so positive - the had that awful psoriasis which meant her hair fell out - her take on it? "Hey, I've had a great new haircut and everyone says how nice it looks!" :)

She will be a big miss on the forum, and I personally will miss her terribly.

I've just had a quite read back through some of Tricia's recent posts - she certainly was a battler when it came to puzzles. So encouraging to others as well.

Of course it did remind me of the other character in this situation - poor Olly won't know what's going on :(

Thanks Gill for organizing that - I'm sure they will be lovely.

Good idea Gill. Flowers for Christine will be a nice idea.

And yes, MBH, I too was wondering how Olly will take it. Poor cat will be terribly confused. :(

I feel like I've lost a friend, even if I never met her, as we chatted so often while doing battle over the puzzles.

I am so shocked and saddened to hear about Tricia. Heartfelt sympathies go to her family. Tricia had sent me some traditional street rhymes so I will post them on the streetgames site dedicated to her memory. She was such a brilliant person both on the public threads and in her PMs. I will miss her.
