we usually persuade Sigur's parents to look after them, but they're on holiday themselves for part of ours, so it wasn't possible.

and, of course, the sixth sense was helped by me getting the cat baskets out last night.... you'd think I'd know better having had cats for most of my life...

So glad to know that the cat's turned up at least! Of course we were hoping to see you all today, and I hope Thomas is not too confused about it all - but at least I will have a bit of extra time to do the advance preparations and stuff things away in the freezer

I haven't seen the main one lit, but I did think it was quite cool that I got to hold the paralympic one (even if I do hate all kinds of sport!!). I meant to download the photo which was taken of me and Maryann with it to put on here, but forgot in my haste to finish work last week!! If I remember, when I get back I'll post it on here.

And today I've mostly bin...
meeting a friend for coffee and then shopping (wait for the sharp intake of breath - not something I ever do unless it's unavoidable) but actually, it was quite enjoyable because we were buying a present for someone else, and actually found the perfect thing. Then I came home, read for a while, and have just got back from a walk and a drink with another friend in the countryside.

Now I'm sitting listening to the Proms. This is the life.

We saw the torch last Friday evening when it set off from Surrey Uni/Guildford Cathedral. Because that was the start of a stage the woman who was carrying it was there for quite a while waiting for the flame to arrive so she could light her torch. So I got a fairly good view of the unlit torch for several minutes. Then it was lit and she was off, running down the hill into Guildford town centre.

And today we had a VAT inspector in at work which meant I spent almost all day looking up stuff for him and hardly getting anything useful done. And now I am listening to the proms and hoping my headache will clear.

Today I've been tracking down activities to offer on the computers for tomorrow's Mad Hatter's Tea Party organized by one of the local groups. I've got a selection of word searches and mazes that I hope to persuade the visitors to do using Paint, and a set of anagrams. [NO idea of the audience - if any - so I don't think any PB offerings would work]

I'm afraid they have been...um...filed. I've never quite seen the POINT of sudokus, and can't do them. But I'm sure tomorrow will bring me something I can get my teeth into.

...To Perry Green, to the home of Henry Moore. It was pleasant to walk round the grounds, and look at the sculptures, despite the heavy shower of rain. They also had displays which showed how he was inspired by natural items - we looked at the flint on display (like the ones we have in our garden) and immediately some of the shapes of the sculptures clicked into place. They also explained how he then went on to make clay moulds round the shapes, fill them with plaster, extend them into the recognisable shapes, then use them for the bronze castings. I REALLY want to have a go!!

They also had a craft activity barn - I'm getting into these after David and I made the barn . I expected it to be all kids, but the cards and books you could make were so cool I just had to have a go. Another bonus was that, quite by chance, we had chosen Henry Moore's birthday to visit - so we got free home made cake.
