Wasn't quite sure which thread to put this on as it could be one of several so it's got a place of it's own.

First of all, does anyone know where I can buy jam jars with lids for less than 50p each? I've done the trawling the net thing already.

Is there anyone out there who wants an outlet for anything they make? Could be knitting crochet, rugs, jams cards, or any craft you can think of.

Now for the explanation. 123dragon has taken up a stall in www.craftandcrumpet.co.uk. Very recently.
She can't keep up with stock and is looking for suppliers. Her long term plan is to have a craft cafe of her very own. I'll explain more if anyone is interested.

Shame you're so far away, I could get K baking. She loves it and is a great little baker. But I suspect the cakes would be a/ stale and b/ smashed to pieces in the post!!

We made some Christmas pot pouri bags one year that went well at a craft fair ( mulled wine flavour pot pouri and little red gauzy fabric bags with gold ribbon tying them closed), and I used to do peg bags out of a coat hanger and offcuts of curtain fabric. Not really the right season, now. Oh and I made Santa sacks out of Christmassy craft fabric, they don't take much making, although the fabric can be quite expensive, but if you plan it right you can get several out of a metre of fabric. In fact I think to make it go further I did plain red sacks and the pattern on the craft fabric was in panels and I just sewed a panel on each bag. Very effective and sold like hot cakes.

OOhh, I like the sound of your Christmas pot pourri bags, Giraffe. What did you scent them with / put in them?

Doesn't have to be xmas themed. This isn't for the craft and crumpet compo. This is for Lynn and stock long term. She is thinking along the lines of taking a room in this place as opposed to a stall-long term. She is also thinking that she may venture into her own craft cafe in a different area.

Bunny, even if K wants to make cakes or whatever she has to have a level 2 hygiene cert and register herself as a food business via your local council .Even to sell on market stalls. I know. I've got all of the paperwork in front of me. Registering as a food business (retail) market stalls is FOC. A level 2 food hygiene cert costs n the region of £15-£20 online.

Lynn is making "tatty quilts" at the mo. I'd never seen them but they are great. I've suggested clippy mats but cant get the backing stuff in Yorkshire. Clippy mats are more northern based I think. I want to "upmarket" them and make them with leather scraps. She has masses of scraps but I can't get the backing material.

I have only ever really done stuff for the summer / Christmas craft fayres at school, so I was thinking of the Christmas stuff because it's the right time of year to do it.

The pot pouri was mulled wine flavour! and I think we just bought it from the garden centre or supermarket.

Have you looked on ebay for jam jars? I've just had a quick look and there's loads on there - it depends on how many you want, but it looks like a lot of them work out at less than 50p each.

I know this is really late, Gill, but I've just purchased 100 small lidded glass jars from Ikea (and yes, folks, according to my friend who lives in Sweden it is pronounced "Ickier" ) They cost 47.5 pence each but you have to buy them in 4s.

Well, we've just had the last of the crafty people leave (having been fed and watered). Approximately half of the jars are completely finished, all the bunting triangles (for about 90 metres of bunting) are made. House looks like a bomb has hit it, but good fun was had by all.
