Yes, that's what gave it to me originally too.
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.
All of my puzzles are simple and obvious. For certain values of "simple" and "obvious".

I'm so sorry to have caused such confusion :( - and then not to have been able to come back in yesterday to find the mistake! Yesterday was just one of those days when I did not have a moment all day because of needing to meet an urgent deadline - not least because I was leaving early this morning for a trip to London!

The mistake was to omit "GO". It should have read :HEARTLESS ALEX SALMOND - GO "NO".
I never intended this to look like the complete clue, just the anagram bit of it, as I thought it might amuse you.... :? . The only cryptic bit left in was "heartless", which does indeed indicate that you only need AX.
The rest of the clue was irrelevant - the "anagram indicator" was just that I said it was an anagram! ....and then mucked it up by leaving a bit out.

And of course, the answer is actually a slightly odd word - constructed for the purpose....

No worries. I live my life in a perpetual state of confusion.
You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it.

“Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it yet.”
