How about that then Scurra?

I didn't join in this debate earlier (too busy googling.....!) but have to say I've quite enjoyed exploring new topics that I was ignorant about before. Cornwallis was a fascinating discovery, for example! I was dreading having to hunt and hunt for all those obscure pictures, but once I spotted the theme, it became real fun to try and backsolve them (well, didn't manage them all unaided... )
Mind you, I haven't tried Lord Vader yet! And of course, I have always thought I was a bit of an expert on the subject of Lord Lang - but that is proving of no benefit at all in solving it
As for the topic of preferred literature - it is perhaps worth noting that when Scurra was a mere lad, he got his hands on "Jane Eyre" and couldn't bear to put it down - he reckoned it was the best mystery story he'd ever read  (no editing allowed!!)

Thanks all, this is just what I hoped would happen. A frank exchange of views.
Scurra, be assured that I think,we probably all do, that you've done a fantastic job. If it wasn't for you & Gill we would have nothing to take the place of DVP/RUNES and I for one very much appreciate it.
Personally I'd like less research, don't mind a bit,but I'd rather be puzzling than googling. Having said that different themes do require research. I personally prefer general knowlege, like the impressionists to films/music, probably coz I'm not good at them :? :) Its early days and I'm sure that you'll find the right balance.
Well done

Anything with tarot cards, Paddington Bear or national flags will be fine for me...
