It's from the ferry on the approach to Uig, on Skye, in the morning last week. Probably somewhere about Balgown or Linicro. It was that evening I had the snowy and difficult journey home.

All of my puzzles are simple and obvious. For certain values of "simple" and "obvious".

Well, we have filled it in...but it's anyone's guess if it's right! Found the Christmas related clues with no cryptic bits a bit random. In particular, the boys' and girls' names don't seem to be linked, unless I am missing something?

I don't think they are; it's just that there is only really one plausible answer for each of them even when you only have a couple of letters. But I thought the mix of "cryptic" and "quick" approaches was good fun, especially for Christmas.
