Laura, have you tried the doc and explained your predicament? They can give you an overnight cure - I know- I've had that cure.

In my days of dance teaching and associated xmas parties I got the cold from hell, sore throat chest infection- you name it I had it- and I had 6 parties in front of me and all I wanted was my bed.

I went to the docs with very little hope of anything. One prescription and around 18 hours later I was 100% fit.

Actually, I don't feel very ill. I just sound like a man. And can sing bass. :? Which is slightly worrying but nothing that hasn't happened before, and will probably happen every year until I stop having to rehearse Christmas carols in September.

But thank you very much for your good wishes, and Bunny, I hope you start to be able to move again soon!!!

Awww poor Laura :( Lots of liquids and anything you can find to soothe it - and hopefully you'll be hitting the high notes again soon.

In the meantime - you can have a sing-along here:

MBH, I don't think there is a muppet clip that doesn't make me laugh! That one's fab. And I can nearly sing that low. And don't worry, I'm drinking plenty of tea!!!

Loved the muppets, MBH. But then that's about my level of humour generally!! (And I took the drastic step of marrying "Animal"...

Just booked my self a steroid injection for my wrist which is very painful in damp weather - I am also going to check if they can do one into the joint of my index finger - managed to get one on the 16th . Last time I called it was 6 weeks. So if my posts are worse than ever you will know the reason

And if my posts are worse than usual it's because I've hit the bottle. I blame that jester myself...

Hope the injections help, Tricia.

hit the bottle with what? After all, the usual interpretation is your usual condition, isn't it?

but seriously, ouch Tricia, hope you feel better soon

Well I'd have liked to hit the bottle with the jester, or possibly the other way round... I suspect the bottle would be slightly easier to wield.*

Tricia, I'm probably not telling you anything you don't already know, but one of my colleagues started to get dreadfully arthritic. She was advised to exclude tomatoes, peppers and aubergines from her diet. She found it made a big difference. I'm not saying this is universal, but might just be worth a go...

Well lets put it this way neither of us will be at the winter olympics, but 2012 looks promising

spent an hour having physio yesterday on my ankle, back and neck! apparently an hour appointment is very rare on the NHS. back for more next week a 45 min appt! maybe if they'd given me physio from straight after my accident it'd be better by now.

The physio did my steroid injection she was supervised and it really hurt this time. The woman supervising did the last one and it didn't hurt at all. I was brave, I didn't scream, but the physio was told as she hammered the needle into my shoulder "now remember this lady is only tiny, so you won't need to go as deep as the 18 stone man you injected last" oops too late

Lucky to have an hour appointment Kathlyn, I work for them and was lucky to get 10 minutes

I'm lucky in the fact that it's a private practice that the local GP's send patients to. They have a contract with them to treat NHS patients. I have been there many times over the last 10 yrs as both private and NHS patient and you get the treatment you need no matter who's paying. Also if after 6 treatments they think another couple would be beneficial they just ring the GP and he always says yes.

Sorry your steroid injection hurt strep hope you get some benefit from it soon. I'm sure some of the pain is from them trying to get the stuff in too quickly.

mine is next Wednesday - its at the small joint clinic at the hospital and the consultant is very eccentric - he usually starts by making jokes at the size of the needle!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is that because he partakes of a small joint before the operation? :D

Maybe that's what the problem was with Strep's nurse too?
