I need to get going! Everyone else appears to be finishing! I've only got 3 puzzles left, but they're the hard ones, which is why they're left!

Well I'm hoping it just looks that way because the people who haven't finished aren't posting!

You're doing better than me - I've only got one so far, mainly because I know I'm not going to have much time until the end of term in a couple of weeks time!

Another teacher then? Or are you on the receiving end (i.e. student)?

Yes, I am nosy.

Well, I believe there are a few of them. I'm not a real teacher, just a minion (higher level teaching assistant), but several people seem to be in the same line. I'll let them own up if they wish to!!

I tried to be a teacher, but was such a miserable failure at it I returned to the safety of the office. Much respect to anyone who does such a difficult job - mind you, I've a friend who teaches at a residential special needs school (one where they call the police when a student goes missing, and the police bring dogs to track them down). She had a horrid time while settling in, but is now really enjoying it - she teaches science and in a normal school, wouldn't be able to get away with spending all her time blowing things up!

I'm a teacher by accident rather than design

During my early years with computers I found out how to teach people far older than me how to do things they need to do. That (many years later) lead on to me teaching evening classes on a 1-year contract basis. They invited me back 13 years in a row, so I'm figuring I've got some skills.

I currently take ICT out to the community on behalf of Sunderland City Council, but unfortunatly when I looked at the idea of teaching more evening classes I've found that "I'm NOT QUALIFIED" :o ... and that rolls up a whole different soapbox (so I'll shut up now) :)

I don't think that my style would work in a school-age classroom situation - I'll stick to teaching people who PAY to sit in front of me - they at least THINK that they want to learn :geek:

I'm a music teacher, so I do part time in school and part time teaching instrumentalists.

I didn't realise there were that many teachers around here! I suppose everyone here is clever so there will be a few!

Well puzzlebrains is harder than any homework (so it must be more beneficial if it's working my brain harder), and it's a lot more fun (well, at times...when I can do the puzzles).

You can probably guess by my bad spelling that I'm an ESL teacher. One of the joys of the job is that anything close to correct starts to look correct. Grammar, I quit trying to get that right years ago.

I can't get the surealism crossword because I'm still not sure how to spell the bovine quadruped with 4 letters when I know it should be 3  or at least I think it's 3 :?

What's an ESL teacher? One that uses short easels?

I'm going to have a guess on ESL because I don't know either.

Given that Kat is in Hong Kong and she is originally USA I'm guessing English spoken language.

Any bets on how far wrong I am?

I'd say you have two out of three.

I reckon it's English as a Second Language

That is what I are.

After 15 years of looking at bad spelling and even worse grammar, anything goes now. Like I said, that's why I'm having problems with some of these...

Kingsley, I'm not speaing for the others, but I think I'm less clever now after having this job for so long, and there is NO WAY I would give you homework. That just means I would have to correct it ;) Since it's Christmas break, I put my red pen away.

At teh Uni we start early September and it's fullon intensive 3hour classes 2 or 3 times a week for 12 weeks. Break up in late november and the students have their exams this week and next. I have to go in on the 16th to put the final grades into the computer (but if I'm feeling lazy, I could do it from home-or a beach in Thailand if I can convince the other half to go), but no marking because I taught the classes :D Next term, I'll have a lighter teaching load, but summer break will be later because I'll be stuck with all the exam marking. :(
Our system flops back and forth. I got lucky this time because I was sick and they felt sorry for me. I don't head back until 7 Jan for a few meetings and to get my schedual. Classes will start on the 11th. I've always loved my job for what it is. But the long holidays make it even better.
My poor daughter doesn't break until the 19th. That means two weeks of peace and quiet to try and finish the first magazine   :?
