...To a scarecrow festival at Flamstead. The village had really made a big effort, with all sorts of entries, such as: the BFG peeking over a hedge, Darth Vader outside a front door, a scarecrow sitting on a toilet, John Lennon and Yoko Ono scarecrows in bed and so on. All the money collected for voting entries went to two charities. Oh, and a nice pint of draught cider in the pub garden didn't go amiss, either. :D

That sounds good. I've been looking for cows.
This is one of my favourites so far. One side is painted with the view from where it has been sited and the other side has a view of London (ish). It is really beautiful.

Yesterday actually - I was a guest of her Majesty twice.
The first time was lunch at HM Prison Brixton (actually courtesy of my son) then we spent the afternoon at Buckingham Palace making use of the chance to re-visit within a year for free. We just made it as it was 26th August last year when we went.

Walked miles overall, and it was very hot and sticky so I was far too tired to post this last night.

The lunch was great and it was really interesting to be taken inside the walls of the prison.

.....at the hospital with Fernando for chemo. The results of the scan he had on Wednesday have come back pretty much clear, so it looks like the chemo is working. :D

Following in LATs footsteps....went to Buck Pal today...the collection of the queens dresses was fantastic...loved seeing her coronation dress. First time to see the state rooms and WOW...had a smile on my face when I saw the dress she wore for the 2012 olympics film with James Bond.

Yes, I liked the fact that the dressmaker was told that two identical dresses were needed but was not told why!

And all those Titians etc and wonderful ceilings!

I also think the gardens - well the bit that you see on the way out - are amazing. The rest are wonderful too but it is quite a few years since I was lucky enough to see them and no photos were allowed.

Currently gate-crashing my friends' holiday in Dorset while my OH fits a new boiler, radiators, airing cupboard etc. at home (lucky him!) Visited Chesil Beach and accidentally got hit by a giant wave...

...Baking. I'm not quite sure how this happened but I seem to have ended up hosting a "baby shower" tomorrow. I don't really know what a baby shower is, but hey. Anyway, as I'm notorious for massive over-catering, I must say that now I survey my efforts, I realise I could almost certainly feed at least 50 people. Might need some emergency guests!
