Bekonscot is brilliant, although I wouldn't particularly recommend their cafe. There is a big Waitrose next door, so maybe get a picnic from there to take in? They also have a train you can ride on to go in, and play equipment which is quite nice for afterwards. They s8metimes have a magician near the picnic bit who is quite good fun.

Glad you enjoyed it. I think it's a great place with so much to look at. I loved the names of the various businesses.

We had the family round for a barbecue today (which was very nice, particularly as we had picked the one day all week which was sunny and warm!) I just had to laugh at my idiot son. He came round with a present for D (whose birthday it was last week) of a giant wheel of Cornell University cheese. But even more bizarre, he also gave him some vials ("to put in the bin but just to make him laugh") containing his own DNA which he had previously sequenced out of interest a couple of years ago, which had been residing in his freezer! This really must get the prize for the most bizarre birthday surprise ever?

 We see lots of what I would be more likely to term branchloos in the woods around us. :D

 Yes, loads round the woods here too. We usually find them ready made and the kids love to go inside them and play (well, they did, before one of them ended up with titanium rods in her legs... ) But fingers crossed they can be taken out in a few months!

....Having a somewhat mixed day.

We went to a very nice garden near Haywards Heath which we both enjoyed. On our way home we noticed steam coming from under the bonnet so we stopped after getting off the M25 and discovered the coolant looked empty. N had about a third of a bottle in the car, topped it up and waited a bit for the engine to cool and then got home, N then used my car to go to get some more coolant, came back and reported I had a malfunction warning light on in my car! Rac man came to check N's car having warned it could be the head gasket but decided eventually it probably wasn't. Meanwhile I took my car to a local garage and arranged to take it down tomorrow morning for them to try to diagnose what is wrong. I have 3 months left on the warranty but the local dealership has severed it's links with Kia and I would have to take it nearly 30 minutes drive away so it may well be easier to pay to get it sorted much nearer to home, depending on what they find. N's car is booked in at a garage on Thursday. Our plans for the next couple of days may need to be revised!

Mind you, warning lights on cars could well be a sensor that's gone wrong! What was the sensor saying?? Dibble's girlfriend's WIFE'S (oops! ) car had an emissions light come on but it's gone off again now. A said they sometimes come on if you have been doing a lot of short journeys.
