Re: Clever s*ds - help required please!!
I'm after a clever "crafty" sod, please, this time. I'm looking for some card which would be suitable for making invitations, in a berry / aubergine colour. I can't find it anywhere - most places seem to sell either burgundy or purple. I need something in between. I've tried the dreaded Hobbycraft, WHSmith, Dunelm, and local craft shops, without success. Any ideas?

How about somewhere that does printing? They might have suppliers that can get them any colour and sell it on to you?

pda card and craft seem to have something called Amethyst (aubergine). I don't know if that is suitable for you?

Ill go and ask 123dragon. She doesn't have a craft box, or a craft room. She has a craft chalet. NOT the one she stays in, another one to store her craft stuff in. If anyone knows she will know. She has a discount card for a craft warehouse too.

Re: Clever s*ds - help required please!!
How much do you need? We are going to look in the craft chalet. What size do you need it to be? If she's got some she'll cut it down to the right size on her machine.

Oooh, that's useful to know! When we've finalised the actual design, and she's got her guest list finalised I will get back to you.
Thank you very much!!

Re: Clever s*ds - help required please!!
I have been sent an email by one of the schools, with three attachments, which I can't open. They have a .emz ending to the title. Anyone have any idea if there is a way to get them to open? (The email was just asking if they had the correct mobile number on file for me, so I can't see why it needs one attachment let alone three)
Re: Clever s*ds - help required please!!
It appears to be a graphic file extension, so they are probably just something like the school's logo etc. that their email software hasn't sent correctly.

As ever our omniscient jester is quite right.
Dear Mrs ...
I did not attach anything to the email so can only imagine that between our systems, the school logo, name and address were turned into attached items. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. I will look at the format of future emails. This is the first time that I have attempted to send out 1300 merged emails to parents in this way.

Re: Clever s*ds - help required please!!
Has anyone got any suggestions for an inn which does food and accommodation that is nice and also affordable in the Wiltshire / Gloucestershire sort of area please? We need to organise our family get together, so need about 10 or so rooms. My brother was supposed to be organising it this year, needless to say he hasn't.

Not sure I actually require help but....
What does one do, when one's kazoo won't ooo?
I have a concert on Thursday, we've been asked to get hold of a kazoo for the finale, and I knew I had one on my bookcase. (They joys of being a music teacher - also have a croaking frog, guitar plectrum, and Madagascan shaker). The trouble is it won't make a noise anymore! Do you repair a kazoo or just buy a new one?

Re: Clever s*ds - help required please!!
But, to be honest, I think you could probably buy a new one for a couple of quid...Yes, you should be able to fix the kazoo. Most probably it's a problem with the little piece of tissue paper (called the "membrane"), under the round disk on the top of the kazoo (called the "turret") . If you can pry the little round "turret" off, you'll find a round piece of tissue paper. If this is all mushed up, damaged or missing all you need to do is replace it with a new piece. Just use a regular piece of tissue paper like you use to wrap shirts and gifts in. Just cut it to size, drop it in the hole and replace the little "turret". I know the tissue paper will work for sure, but if you don't have tissue paper at hand, I've seen it written that you may also be able to use a piece of plastic bag, probably a grocery bag or some other crinkly kind of bag (rather than a soft bag).

I could, but not before Thursday. I might try the tissue paper though. Thanks!!!
Re: Clever s*ds - help required please!!
OK, so somewhat delayed as my daughter was reluctant to download the software to her ancient laptop (and she now has a brand new one), we talked on Skype for the first time yesterday. We could see her but she couldn't see us. Does anyone have any idea what I might have been doing wrong?

Re: Clever s*ds - help required please!!
Does anyone know / have any experience of shredding laurel leaves in a garden shredder? I know that laurel leaves contain minute quantities of a cyanide producing substance, and also that if you put shredded laurel leaves in water in an airtight pot you can make a killing pot for insects. My question is, would chipping an entire laurel tree be dangerous in the open air?

Why not phone a tree surgeon and ask them?
