.... at Fernando's school sports day this morning, sitting in the dappled shade of a tree, watching the kids exerting themselves in the heat. Then Fernando and I had a pub lunch to reward him for working hard and getting really good results this year. Then we went to Lally's school play.

Yep!! - plus trying to fit in catching up on todays tennis, watering the garden, toms now coming on a treat - Laura, and generally trying to keep cool

...toasting/melting at work until nearly 7.00pm. When we popped out to get some lunch the temperature showing on the car was lower than that in the office.

Have just sat down with a few pages of puzzles I printed out.

...Doing a bit of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" dance (the zombie bit when he slides his foot) in an RE lesson. Much to the amusement of the year 8s. Who were learning about Sikhism (Guru Gobind Singh) at the time.

Oh, and then walking around Waitrose with my top on inside out. Like you do.

Was it lovely and cool in Waitrose? ASDA was so refreshing yesterday.

Yes, very nice. I stayed in there sufficiently long that I ended up with a shopping bill equal to the national debt. It was only when I realised I was walking around with my t shirt on inside out that I hurredly entered the checkout.

It rained here this morning, for about an hour or so, but it wasn't the downpour they promised. Just light Rain. I still need to water the pots and baskets. I had just washed all the bedding though, and it scuppered my plans to hang it out.

What were you doing in Bridlington?

Well, first the younger ones went to this seasidey museum thing. I was with the year 5 and 6 classes who were supposed to be sketching the harbour, but they weren't really interested, so we took them for a walk along the harbour wall where some of the nice (slightly scary) fishermen showed them what they'd caught. Then we went and looked at all the lobsters and crabs that had just been brought in, and a very nice bloke explained all about them and how to tell a male from a female (apparently, one has a flatter back and one has a curved back). They got to hold some of them. I got a typical little girl question - 'so will they kill them then?' Cue look of horror when I explained 'yes, when they cook them and eat them they probably will!'

Then we went round the seaside museum while the little ones went for fish and chips. Then we went for fish and chips and we all played on the beach and got very wet and sandy!
