Fernando got very angry with me as well because I could only not wobble if I was going quite quickly, so when I was behind him and he braked suddenly because he was heading for the hedge, I would sail right into the back of his bike and we would both end up in a pile. My bike also got attacked by a dog who was trotting along looking over its shoulder and crashed into the bike! Great fun, but an uncomfortable seat.

 Nice to have the younger members back, and I'm glad everyone is home safe.

I remember that at their ages I used to cycle for miles along the coast - as well as cycling to school and back. The rules and road sense I learned on the bike served me in good stead when I started to learn to drive.

Unfortuneatly things seem to have changed - cycling on pavements, ignoring all road signs (especially red traffic lights), and that's the adults. Heaven knows what the new riders are learning.

I'm going to shut up now and stop sounding like an 'old codger'

looking at cleethorpes on the internet - need to visit next weekend and am trying to find a nice hotel or self catering cottage or lodge (there might be 7 of us) so am thinking a lodge would be best. I see hoseasons offer them but I have never stayed there - has anyone else? is it like center parcs? Can anyone help with this? Also on places to visit in the area.

Thanks

Biscuit

..been south for a few day, had a horrendous journey back yesterday - traffic and monsoon-, got home yesterday at 5pm to find our phone lines had been nicked again. BT actually worked today to resore them.

The younglings are all dead. As I'm sure you knew, Anakin.

[Sorry about that. Gratuitous Star Wars reference for no good reason.]

my younglings are not so young - i have the 15 year old who wants to meet up with a friend in cleethorpes which is the reason for the trip (we feel he is too young to go alone and we know he might disappear during the day if we say no!)
a 18 year old and a 19 year old. the 19 year old's boyfriend (of 3 years so we know him quite well) wants to come too.

While we were at the Eden Project they were doing a "Build a Shelter" thing. We used some bamboo poles, some strips of fabric to tie it all together and an old parachute.

Not sure I'd want to spend the night in it, particularly with all the rain we had.

Looks like fun - but I agree, I think I'd rather sleep under something more substantial.
So did they enjoy the Eden project?

Yes I think so. F would have liked to do the rock climbing they were advertising, but we couldn't find it. Please note the sunshine in the background, a very rare sight.

So glad you got to the Eden project - there is so much going on there all the time and it looks as if you made the most of it....even without the rock-climbing :( :D :D . Glad it didn't rain the whole time, anyway - it is really rotten that July wa so bad everywhere, although I do think that down here in the South West we do seem to get much brighter sunshine in between the showers!

Today I've mostly bin spending a night in with Hugh Grant. Unfortunatley several of his Hollywood co-stars decided to gatecrash and spoil things a bit, but never mind. I've also bin making a mess of painting my nails. When it says 'dries in 60 seconds', why is it still wet 60 minutes later???? Grrrrr!

Worst thing is when you try to paint your toe nails. They are such a very LONG way away... :x Still, no one would want to get close enough to my feet to check out my painting skills!!

I've definitely gone for using the fast-dry stuff now - it really does go hard quite quickly, which is especially good for toenails  Try Boots No7 Speed-dry ;)
