We have really strange weather at the moment. Brilliant sunshine through the day, it's melting the snow gradually and making the roads on our estate driveable- but only until dusk. Then they turn to sheets of ice. We've all dug out our drives today and salted them,we've been to the supermarkets to restock and are now faced with a slippy slope again first thing tomorrow.

Our snow's all gone, but it's been bitterly cold and REALLY foggy. The trees and hedges all look very pretty - all covered in thick white frost. The school I work at is in a pretty rural spot, and so when I SHOULD have been paying attention to the ghastly year 11 RE from hell I was actually admiring the view over the white sparkly fields and watching the horses running about to keep warm. :D

Our road was very icy today. I had parked my car 10 minutes walk away last night to be on the safe side and it was hard enough walking down to it in wellies, I hate to think what it would have been like to drive. And it didn't look any better tonight when I trudged back home (in the dark with no street lights :( )

Brrrrr! Just got back in, and it's -9 degrees outside. The trees are very pretty with their white fluffy bits, but I would setttle for brown and boring just now.

well, it's warmer here this morning - only -8, not -10 like it was yesterday morning when I passed the temperature gauge in the middle of Bury. (although that temp is usually registering around 2 degrees colder than the weather forecast says it is). Not looking forward to tomorrow morning - the forecast says it'll be -14.

Did someone move Britain a few miles closer to the arctic circle and forget to tell anyone, do you think?

I was talking to someone last night who had spent the last month in India and came back om Wednesday, having only packed light clothing on the grounds that even if it was a bit chilly when he returned it was only a relatively short train journey home...
Mind you, he said that it also poured with rain whilst he was there, which isn't supposed to happen either - which he says should have tipped him off that something weird was happening with the weather generally.
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.
All of my puzzles are simple and obvious. For certain values of "simple" and "obvious".

It was -17 when my husband went off to work this morning.

He managed to get down the hazadous icy lanes and on to the A50 then as he was pootling along at 50 mph his engine cut out!!!!!!!!! he managed to avoid an accident with lorries etc and got to the hard shoulder. He restarted the car and drove it to a layby and got the book out to see what the dash light meant. The car is now at the garage being assessed. If it can't be fixed today he'll be in work all night as I can't drive my car out of here as it doesn't like the road conditions being an automatic.

Postman got here today, first post since monday of last week, opened one card and it looked just like my garden does this morning all white.

I haven't seen our postman for days and last weeks rubbish is still at the side of the road (that I nearly broke my neck, tripping over a hidden brick in a snowstorm, putting out). Other deliveries, vans and people are making it in and out alright, so not sure what has happened to the postman.

Our postman came round for the first time in a week yesterday. We were expecting to be inundated - he bought one parcel!

We had a few more things today, but I'm not convinced there isn't a mountain of post for us somewhere. (Or maybe I think people love us more than they do :D )

I'm waiting for a parcel from Amazon, it should have been here last Thursday it was then on the van for yesterday and it is now back at the depot. Heaven only knows when I'll get it now. Wishing I'd had some of the presents gift wrapped and sent direct to the relitives.

Aw, but where's the fun? My main reason for coming on here is to get the gossip and scandal...  (I have no gossip or scandal in my own life, sadly). ;)

I'm feeling a bit guilty that here on the Costa del Wessex it isn't too bad.
All the snow which fell on Thursday melted due to the rain on Friday night. Now it's just a cold wind and hard frosts.

Frost gone from the trees today but no sign of the pack ice thawing.
