Taking the car to get a new cd player fitted. What a result!!! The car is still under a Mazda manufacturer's warranty, so they:
a) did it for free
b) washed all the cow poo off the car (we were staying in a mill on a dairy farm when we were in Dorset) AND hoovered it!! :D

I hoovered Mum's the other week and it is very difficult to get into all the corners and that tends to be where most of the rubbish has gathered. You could see the difference afterwards though :)

 I've just copied and pasted your last message onto a piece of paper which I'm going to put up on my son's door. Just for a subtle ( ) dig...

Like the new avatar btw.

Speaking of my son, he's just got back from Cornwall. As a few of you will be aware, I was tearing my hair out because he had done NOTHING about getting anywhere to live in September (yes, I do mean as in that month that starts next week!)
I was hearing about all these other students who were having trouble getting even shoddy and unsuitable accommodation months ago, and horror stories about how expensive it all is for the ones left. His attitude (which is generally his attitude to life) was
"Stop fussing Mother, it'll be FINE." :x

And guess what? A last minute place came on the internet a couple of weeks ago. He signed up for it WITHOUT having seen it or even knowing exactly where it was, or indeed if the person really existed.  . His girlfriend's mum has just taken them down to look at it. Oh and guess what?

"Yes, it's really big, and nicely fitted. We've managed to convince the lady she only needs to let it to us for 9 months per year so she can let it to holiday makers during the summer. It's a converted Victorian house with big windows and lovely high ceilings. It's a few minutes' walk from the supermarket, has a courtyard bit where I can keep my bike, is on the bus route to uni, oh, and has AMAZING views across the bay."

Well, obviously I am pleased for him (and not a little relieved) but GRRRRRRRR HOW is that boy so jammy (and infuriating)?. :x

Both of my offspring land on their feet with very liitle effort too. I do all the worrying for them.

My daughter did the best one. She'd done 4 years training(living in) -in London- towards pub management, and announced at 23 she ddn't want a pub anymore, she wanted a life. I pointed out that if she wanted to remain in the London area she had to find somewhere to live and a job with enough money to pay for it- and keep herself too. Next day she announced she was going to manage a betting office one of her customers who also had an empty flat she could live in!! I pointed out to her that she couldn't add up and this may make for problems. "I'll learn" she replied. 10 years on, Bettng office sold, pub bought and sold, living in Spain like Lady Muck.

Today I've mostly bin doing magic tricks. I did one on Kingsley and Lally but they both knew what was going on so I tried it on mum. It is basically a pack of cards with tiny little lines on the back and the position and angle of the lines tell you what the card is. I 'mindread' what the card she had picked was and at that point she began to search the card up and down.

I told her that they were in brail on the back of the card. I even managed to get herto believe that the cards were heat sensitive and her hands weren't hot enough to activate it.

Nice one fernando

I've got a whole collection of magic tricks that I'm determined I'm going to learn to do properly when I retire (aged about 90 at this rate)

Always loved magic, and magicians - and never feel things are 'spoiled' by knowing how it works. Ball - Cup - Cup - Ball ;)

Your new avatar reminded me of:

Magic tricks are quite fun but someone like kingsley she will ask before you do the trick to examine every bit of equipment, shuffle any cards. She is obviously a very suspicious person. :)

Talking of magic tricks, have I ever posted this one here?
It's performed by a friend of mine and it still makes me laugh, even now.

Yeah, that was the name of his tv show.
(He said that this was easily the hardest thing he ever did - because (a) it could only be done once and (b) he couldn't look!)

My, what exalted company you keep! :D Mind you I'm a bit worried about you. I watched some of his other things on you tube - and he was showing how to do con tricks on people!! I hope you haven't been taking lessons....

You can't. I have tried to minimise this as much as possible, but different systems have slightly different settings and what works in one place doesn't work elsewhere (or indeed sometimes at all, as Giraffe will tell you!)

You shouldn't get breaks in the middle of things like crossword grids though - it should at least keep the graphics together even if that involved moving them all onto another page.

I think I will try again as emily's puzzle has only printed half the grid saying it is page 1 of 2 and missing links too. the other's I can cope with as long as the grids do not split over two pages - the really old computer I have that is connected to the internet could be a problem but I cannot print from my lovely laptop, as we are now wireless unless anyone out there knows differnet.
