I loved it when we visited Northern Ireland back in the 1980s when things were still quite volatile. Belfast is such a beautiful city and the constant searches and check-points then actually gave a strong sense of safety. Mind you, nobody had warned us about (innocently) driving through Nationalist areas in a car with a UK numberplate - our Presbyterian hosts could not believe that we had come through unscathed! But that is past history......
I can vouch for the hospitality and warmth - unequalled in all our travelling experiences. And of course, an Irish Breakfast will keep you going all day
