I'm not strictly on holiday but it feels like it. My daughter and her 2 boys have left to stay for a few nights in a wooden wigwam. Having had them in the house since April it's great having the house to ourselves for a few days.
Although it is very quiet!!!

Oooh...lovely!! I know EXACTLY what you mean. You love them to bits but it's SO wonderful to have the house to yourself and have nobody in it now and again! Make the most of it!

The giraffes are off to Spain tomorrow. Allegedly we will have some internet access, so I might take the puzzles with me. I haven't had a chance to look at them for the last week or so, so probably can't remember where I'm up to, and I will only be taking my kindle, so won't have any of my spreadsheets.

My friend has had a combination of her 2 grandsons staying for the last 10 days. I've been the "give me a break nanny", or "just come with me." Its carnival week here. I'm knackered so she must be on her knees. A 1 year old and a 3 year old are flippin hard work!

I have faint memories of going there - I'm sure Wulfruna has some embarrassing photographs somewhere (not of her, obviously.

)
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.
All of my puzzles are simple and obvious. For certain values of "simple" and "obvious".

Oh goodness. I don't have good memories of Fort William. That was where we tried to get bed and breakfast and couldn't, ended up sleeping the night in a van and cleaning our teeth in lemonade in the morning...

(LONG time ago!)

Well we like it. But we have somewhere to stay, at Pumpkin's flat. Although it is perched on "The Hill".

Wonderful! Definitely one of my favourite places, with many happy memories of when we spent our holiday regularly ini the Highlands. The road from Fort William out to Mallaig is amazing, especially when Ben Nevis is visible against a blue sky (yes, it does happen!

) - not to mention doing it on the stean train via Glenfinnan (now the Hogwarts Express......)
And the seafood at the Crannog restaurant on the pier is to die for.....

(if you can get a table!) Don't miss the fresh langoustines
ps - how much for a pretty picture of little Scurra paddling in a loch with his little wooden boat?????

That's the pic I was thinking of! But yes, I love that area of Scotland too. Lots of memories of gorgeous holidays there. Maybe it's time for me to go again

Perseverance: - the courage to ignore the obvious wisdom and carry on anyway

Pumpkin's flat is straight up the Hill overlooking the Crannog restaurant. She has a direct view over the Loch and can see all the comings and goings from the pier. They do a boat trip with dinner which Mrs S and Pumpkin enjoyed at Whitsun. I didn't get to go.

Sounds like she is in a lovely spot. Hopefully you can get the chance to do the boat trip & dinner another time - although possibly not in late October?
