I have 6 actually, and am sending one of these to everyone I know as Christmas presents this year. But I coloured mine purple specially.
Phew, that's a relief. I mean, who'd want to look at one of those nasty white rabbits? I hope it gives you many years of deep satisfaction.

......cold. Had a new boiler fitted, which entailed having both the front and back doors open all day while they drained various radiators, to put new valves on. It was all going fine until about 4.30 when I realised water was pouring through the lounge ceiling!

Nice and warm now. They also seem to think they have stopped the waterfall, but I now have a couple of holes in my rather damp ceiling.

OMG that sounds like a bit of a nightmare, Giraffe. You'll need the heating to work to dry out the ceiling!!

The heating is working, I just hope they have got rid of the puddle upstairs and that the carpets aren't soaked through. The timing was pretty dreadful as I was just about to get the girls from the bus stop and had to run around getting towels and buckets instead. They are coming back to finish iff tomorrow, so hopefully they will sort out any remaining problems then.

... trying to see Thomas's first tooth. Ste got a good look at it earlier, but he won't let me see. It's on the bottom so mostly hidden by tongue, which he has started sticking out at us. Guess I'll just have to wait till it's grown a bit and isn't just a smudge of white.

oh, and also bin just realising that it's our works christmas do tomorrow and unless I want to go in my work clothes, I'd better check to see if the only other pair of smart trousers I have needs ironing! Bah, why won't they let you go to these things in jeans?

Just as long as you don't get your first experience of that tooth when he decides to nibble YOU. That's how I first realised David had a tooth. I was breast feeding him at the time. OUCH. :o

And I'm with you there on the jeans thing. I'd happily live in mine.

Glad to be back on line after a couple of days of slightly interrrupted service while we switched over from one server to another. The problem was not so much changing server, which went smoothly, but then having to set up new e-mail addresses for us both - and trying to transfer my old personal one across, so that I can continue to use it. And then our internal network link went into a sulk and we couldn't link up the two computers (and the printer)for a while.
If only Scurra were still living here with his aged parents :o - he'd have fixed it in five minutes! :ugeek: :ugeek:

Had a nice night out with the work - it was just a meal at a restraunt - no loud music no party games - so we could actually talk to each other

I am so glad to be home - very stressful journey home - boy racers chasing taxi cabs , another speeding and weaving in and out of traffic then slamming on his breaks at the roundabout - all in a mile journey from the shops to my home.

Then I get in and Olly gives me a little nip ecause I have been ignoring him(according to him)

ON top of that the computer is running slow.

I think I'll settle nown with a nice glass of white wine :D

This week, I've mostly bin regretting posting on the illness and injury thread that I wasn't feeling ill at all. Had a horrid cold all week. Did a concert yesterday with no voice at all (which is particularly tricky with an orchestra of very noisy 10 yr old girls) all by sign language. At the moment I can sort of croak but can't sing at all. Concerts all weekend and on Monday. Currently fingers are crossed that I'll be able to sing properly by Monday. But I shall never again post on this forum that I feel well - definitely jinxed myself!!!

Oh you poor thing Laura. :( I'll keep my fingers crossed for you too.

......I've been trying to sort out labels for easy addressing of Christmas cards. It seemed like a good idea so I have spent the last 2 evenings typing out the addresses. (No I don't have hundreds of friends, I'm a slow typist). Then this evening did a dummy run printing it out on plain paper and I can see that while the top three rows of labels on the page might be OK, the bottom four rows get progressively worse so that they won't fit onto the labels properlyand finsih too far up from the bottom of the page.
I've checked the layout carefully to make sure it agrees with what the sheet that came with the labels says and don't know what to do to sort it out. I hate WORD.
Meanwhile I haven't been writing the cards as I was hoping to have the labels ready first. :(

I used to do the same with mine, I had all the labels typed in, but then people kept moving house, so I had to change lots, then I couldn't find the file I'd stored tem in, so I write them by hand now. Much easier.

Have you tried having the first line of the label as just a space on some of the lower ones? (Or a full stop) Starting the address proper on the line below. That might move it down a bit.

Oh I tried that, it just cut the bottom line of the address off :(

I think you're right, it is easier to write them. And for me, it's quicker as well. But if I can get this working, and live long enough it might eventually save me time - like by about 2020.

  * Shakes Head *

Every time I'm asked about 'label printing' I've got to re-teach myself, but it is quite do-able  My assistant at work is involved with an ex-navy group (sending invites, cards, etc) - and once I showed him how to put the address details in a spreadsheet he now 'amends' things and runs his labels off when he needs them.

Mail-merge is a more advanced skill (nobody would class it as beginner's word processing), but it can be hand in the right circumstances.

Not a brilliantly easy task to describe from a distance unfortunatly, because you can start to go wrong in a few different ways.

There do seem* to be only two levels to MS Word though - usual basic letters and straightforward typing and formatting and then "HELP! HELP! How can anyone possibly get this!" stuff.

*Note the word "seem" - it's perfectly possible to get things worked out, it's just that most people don't have a need for the "advanced" stuff in Word.

Tricky to offer help remotely in this case as you say MBH (especially without seeming creepily asking for your address list...) but given the Avery designation it should be possible to work out a template...
