OK another exam classic answer from the science exam today.
Q What is this drug used for these days?
A To cure pregnancy.

(Bit drastic??)

Glad to know the 'FRANK about drugs' message is getting out.
Which drug were they asking about? Seems that a lot of drugs are more likely to work towards causing pregnancy than cure it.

How I managed to keep a straight face when he said this I will never know. I was scribing for pupil R - he was doing an RE exam. The question was
"Name two types of contraceptive methods which are acceptable for Catholics."
He asked me to write down
"The rhythm method..." (fine)
..."and the
whip it out method."
The most amusing thing was he said it in a dead pan, serious voice and with not a hint of sarcasm. Bless him.

Jeez...can't believe how dim some kids are. Today we were extracting DNA from kiwi fruit. One bright spark commented that it looked like sperm. The girl I was with asked me (seriously) "Miss, did we REALLY just make sperm then??"

Mind you, if half of her genetic information is derived from a kiwi fruit it would certainly explain a lot...

At some point this afternoon, I have to try to keep a straight face while my 2 year old nephew apologises for trying to eat a candle!!!
He pulled it off the bookcase and decided to have a good gnaw on it. He'd just eaten lunch, so he has no excuse that he was hungry. I just can't imagine what possessed him?!?!?

That reminds me of the time I found teeth marks in F's ear. K tried to convince me that he had bitten himself!

Having a good laugh at this. I bet you keep reminding her of it too.

He tried, bless him, but he'd just woken up from his nap and I'm really not sure he remembered doing it.

Not kids, but....
Stephen yesterday was talking to two australian female colleagues, who mentioned that tomorrow is dress down Friday, but no jeans, no trainers, no thongs. (Something was lost in translation there, and after looking at the stunned look on Stephen's face, while he tried to remember agreeing to an underwear policy, they explained that they meant flip flops!)

Excerpt from a boy's essay on "Of Mice and Men". They had been looking at this description of Crooks' possessions:
Crooks possessed several pairs of shoes, a pair of rubber boots, a big alarm clock and a single-barreled shotgun. And he had books, too; a tattered dictionary and a mauled copy of the California civil code for 1905. There were battered magazines and a few dirty books on a special shelf over his bunk.
"I think that the fact that Crooks keeps all his things tidy in his shed shows he is proud of the few things he has. However, the fact that he has left the magazines covered in dust seems strange."
A 15 year old boy who doesn't understand the term "dirty books"???

(Bless him!)
AND secondly, a classic quote from one of K's class:
they were discussing how the Ancient Greeks drank wine instead of milk because they thought of milk as a medicine. One little girl commented "My Mummy would have LOVED to be an Ancient Greek then. She drinks LOTS of wine!"

You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it.

Sadly, I suspect the reason he doesn't know the term "dirty books" is because he knows all the non-euphemistic terms for them instead...

Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.
All of my puzzles are simple and obvious. For certain values of "simple" and "obvious".
