This has never been a problem for me. I never know what the rules are for anything. And most of the time I don't care. :D

The trick is never to give that away - indeed, sometimes the tactic is to ask someone else even though you know the answer :D
And if you call out across the crowded room, so that everyone hears, especially if you end in the vein of "is that right then?" you can start a very diverting discussion, getting everyone involved in the "helping" and leaving them to deal with the enquirer, while you either carry on with your own concern, or look on and listen in amusement, yet at the end, the enquirer will still credit you with the genius of the answer, even if it wasn't the original proposition you called out. This works whatever the subject matter. Sort of.

this weekend, I've mostly been

Watching Michael Ball in Hairspray. Absolutely amazing. I haven't laughted so much in ages. I want to go again!! And one of the singers was the understudy - I couldn't believe it! She was so incredibly amazing! I can't start to imagine how good the normal one is, if that's what the understudy was like!!!!

That sounds fun! Was this a special treat or do you often go to the theatre?

It's a trip I've been planning for a while with a couple of friends, but one of them was ill, and couldn't go, so we may go back and see it again just as a day trip when she's better. However, in the next few weeks, I am going to see West Side Story at Leeds Grand, and Anton and Erin ; Cheek to cheek, at Sheffield City Hall. Then in the summer I'm going to see Ruthie Henshall with the BBC big band in London. That was supposed to be this weekend too, but it was postponed. I appear to be very extravagant at the moment where theatre trips are concerned!

Coo crikey, I'd say! I can't remember the last time I went to the theatre, it might even have been to see a pantomime. Now bearing in mind that my youngest son is 19...
Anyone fancy taking me to the theatre? :D I feel deprived.

Yes, well, I don't spend my money on anything else  .... Except books. And petrol. Very boring life. The West Side Story is a school trip, and the Anton and Erin is a Mothers' Day pressie for my mum. And I went to see Ruthie Henshall when I was 11. She hasn't been on tour since, and she's doing this one-off concert, and i was already going to London that weekend, so I thought I might as well get tickets for it. But then they postponed it, so I;ll have to go again. My sister lives in London though - I can sleep on her floor.

We go to the panto almost EVERY year, and we don't have any kids.... I LOVE panto humour

I enjoy the theatre but hardly ever get a chance to go. My birthday present was a £30 voucher for the Newcastle Theatre Royal, so I'm deciding what to go to in the next couple of months.

It would be great enjoying an evening watching a show with my favourite twin sister - but the travel would be a problem :(

Aw, you're all so sweet! LAT just said I could go with her sometime too. I would have to do some serious saving up at the moment. I have NO money, especially since I decided to "extend" my birthday present (which was originally a top, which needed to change) to a top, some trousers AND some shoes. So no food for the next month then.

... doing bits and pieces of the puzzles.
Vetinari was a snap - I didn't even need to look anything up.
I've also got part-way through some of the others, and awaiting incoming inspirons.

I thought the inverted crossword on page 8 was fun - I inverted the puzzle book and filled them in 'upside-down'. (Luckily I can read inverted writing!) I've also done the Alphactor, Dominoes and some of Going Loopy.

....... making no progress on any of the puzzles that I have started but not completed :(

Blank mind syndrome

But on a brighter note we did go to London to the Van Dyck exhibition at the Tate. Some wonderful paintings and we had lunch out too :D

Cleaning my sons room ready for him to come back on Tuesday after over six months travelling. But I have also just got back from a meal out at friends so I'm feeling nicely mellow.

You've cleaned your son's room, just ready for him to come back and mess it all up again?? That'll be nice for you. Where's he been?

He's been to LA, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Thailand and probably other places that he's just not told me about.
I thought that if the room started clean then it gives me a bit of leverage when he is slobbing around in a month' time, still not having got a job, that he needs to sort himself out or find somewhere else to live!!
