Card? What's that?? Mind you, I blame his father for not instilling the idea of birthday cards into the children..... he hadn't a clue about birthdays either! Though he caused something of a seismic shock yesterday when he announced that he has booked a table at our favourite restaurant for tonight   It must be something to do with being a bit more conscious of the passing of the years - you just wait, all you youthful middle-aged Puzzlebrainers - :o
And of course, my lovely son did treat me to a trip to the cinema when I visited him last week - and is being very cagey about something extra in line when he comes here just after Easter... :?
On the other hand, I also had a lovely surprise of a delivery of scented narcissi flowers from the Scilly Isles, labelled "to Grandma from Thomas" - now I wonder who might have arranged that?

Another nice little bonus - with a bow to my patron Saint Patrick:
Our Church organises weekly lunch-time concerts on Wednesdays, with a wealth of professional-standard talent from across the SouthWest, mostly local music teachers and performers. The one yesterday was from a gifted soprano who happens to have an Irish background, so dedicated her concert to all things Irish, in view of St Patrick's Day the next day, with music by Irish composers or settings of Irish poets (e.g. WB Yeats) as well as traditional folk songs. It was a real treat, and I almost felt that it was specially for me!! I did go and give her my personal thanks afterwards - but it was a really nice and unexpected bonus.

Had a lovely meal tonight - a really attractive small restaurant with an imaginative menu in a village just on the edge of Exmouth. Enjoyed gorgeous pork tenderloin served up with sliced pear and black pudding - a tasty combination! We rarely eat out these days, so it was a real treat....
