Happy birthday Tricia. The snow must have been an unexpected birthday suprise! You seem to have had it worse than we did over this side of the river Exe - but at least it is clearing away more quickly now.... so hope you managed to get out and about.

Thank you, yes, good so far, I've been to the woods with D and K with Pickle, tried out the pop pop boat https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pop_pop_boat my Dad made me (yes, really! ) It worked brilliantly well, in fact a bit too well, and it chugged off into the rather too deep bit of the river which nearly went over the top of my wellies! Then we stopped in Kings Langley at a nice deli http://www.dallingandco.com/ for some lunch. Later I'm off out with a big load of friends to a Turkish restaurant in St Albans. :D My son's coming tomorrow, as are loads of the family for soup and cake. :D

...Just eaten the marmalade sandwich that was the birthday present from Dibble (it was in lieu of the Paddington 2 DVD that didn't arrive on time!)

I do love the sound of your son and father! :D

I'm only excluding husband and daughter from that as I've met them!

I can't imagine....
Just setting off for a weekend in Plymouth to celebrate - hoping we don't get snowed in there! :?

Happy Birthday to the best Mum. And don't worry, I won't mention that you must have been 25 when Scurra was born....

It seemed a good idea two weeks ago when we booked it - but nobody told us about the snow!! :o
We had good day on Saturday (but freezing cold so we didn't linger on Plymough Hoe) and a lovely meal in the evening. And woke this morning to bright sunshine and blue sky - despite the weather warning for the South West. But it seemed wise to cut our losses and come straight home, instead of taking the scenic route across Dartmoor as had been the original intention. Not a good idea in this weather!!
However, they were keeping the main roads well gritted so even after the snow started in earnest we were able to get beyond Exeter with no problem. But the road down to Exmouth was a different story and we only just made it home before our own little road became pretty impassable. Glad we didn't have to walk the last few yards!!
