Scurra wrote:There was a terrific new series hidden away on BBC4 late last year called Only Connect. The idea was that the questions were about "sets" of things in which you had to figure out the link between items that often on the surface appeared unrelated, or, alternatively, presented in a confusing form.
That reminds me of a show on Children's TV a while back, where the presenter had to connect five different things. The first had to be connected to the second, the second to the third, the third to the fourth and the fourth to the fifth.

Which seems like a good game to play on here. Perhaps with an extra rule that the circle must be completed by linking the fifth to the first.

MBH - I agree with you entirely today - My Brain Hurts!!!!!
Well, how about something along the lines of how you have thoroughly enjoyed working with such a professional / outstanding organisation (brown nose etc.) and would like to " broaden your horizons" because you feel you have "a lot to offer" the new post?

I'm brilliant at bulls**tting, me. I can honestly say I have been offered every job I've ever applied for. :D Maybe I should apply to become a footballer. If this thread is to be believed, I might be able to relax on the finance front just everso slightly. What do you reckon my chances would be?

And just by the by I actually hate all sport, except I used to quite like watching my son play basketball - although sitting at the side of the court with 6 foot something lads hurtling towards me was sometimes quite perilous!! He still plays, but he's a bit short - only 6 foot 4.

Oh, and the Only Connect thing was really good. I only realised it was good after most of the series had passed by though.

Well with only three letters to begin with, there's only a limited amount of choice.

Would you like:
MBH, MHB, BMH, BHM, HMB, or HBM?

Even though My Brain Hurts, I Maybe Hard Boiled which is more impressive than a Big Man Hiding. Batty/Hairy Male is a possibility although His Mushy Brain is closer the truth - but if you ask the female population (OK.... under 7 and over 70 years of age) they'll tell you "He's Bloody Marvelous"

Trying very hard not to say to my son that this extract from the local paper should have read : "Local idiot leaves chip pan unattended and then when it caught fire, picked it up with bare hands and launched it at the outside door. This is despite knowing that the correct way to extinguish a chip pan fire""

Why do my offspring make the news for all the wrong reasons

Whinmoor resident suffers burns to hands

A householder suffered burns to his hands tackling a chip pan fire in Whinmoor.

The man in his 20s was hurt when the blaze broke out after the pan was left unattended at a home on Red Hall Chase.

He tried to put it out, but polystyrene tiles on the ceiling melted and burned his hands, leaving him needing hospital treatment.

Fire crews from Stanks were called and put out the blaze.

...squeaking! I've lost my voice and the German teacher had to pick me to read out my paragraph and gave me funny looks when I said (or tried to) two words and then gave up with the whole class in fits of giggles!
