That'll probably take your mind off it too, so that's good. Hope it isn't anything too serious, and that it all goes ok for you.

...Taking Yoyo to the animal welfare centre. I know it's best in the long run, he'll end up with a nice warm home where someone can love him. And he's a very affectionate cat. It was just horrible knowing that he'll have to have injections and vet checks and will need to stay there for about 3 weeks, terrified, in a cattery until they can re home him. Poor old puss. I feel SOOO guilty, as I promised my Mum I'd look after him. But I couldn't.

But you have looked after him for several months. And now you are doing the best you can for him too. Will they let you know if and when they find a home for him?

My niece's boyfriend's mum works there so I'm sure we'll get an update. It was horrible to see him go, felt kind of final.

I got my ipod a couple of years ago and took it when I went in for my op. Just don't put comedy podcasts on like Ricky Gervais and I nearly lost my sticthes with laughter, I catch up with the Archers on mine and news as I rarely listen to the news on TV.

Good luck with the op.

thanks for the good wishes.

We are having problems with our cat at the moment and my husband says we may have to send her somewhere. She keeps weeing and pooing in totally inappropriate places - either that or she is teaching us all a lesson for leaving any of our clothes on the floor!!

Have checked her urine and the vet says no problem so probs psychological - anyone got any tips.

Well I don't know about the pooing (because Yoyo was doing that periodically) but apparently the thing to do to stop them weeing is to put down something they don't like the smell of near where they've been (eg orange peel or garlic) or put down tinfoil (they don't like walking on that). But that's not totally practical if you want a nice tidy house.

i did try cooking a saucepanful of oranges mixed it with dettox and sprayed that everywhere i could think of - the wooden floor was a little bit sticky but smelled lovely. still this did not deter her she just moved up to the children's rooms. Although as i say there is a lot less discarding of clothes on the floor now. We even take her outside and try and wait with her incase she is scared - My OH is getting pretty fed up with it all

Good luck with the op.

I know someone who took their dog to a psychiatrist. Not sure how successful it was.

... seeing what I can get up to in my wheelchair.

I couldn't get into the cupboard to get the broom without help, but I managed to hoover the dining room (which is my temporary office at the moment), wash the kitchen floor and put on a load of washing and then hang it up (had to have it brought downstairs first mind you). Oh and I did some hand washing in the bathroom sink while sitting on the floor. That was also a good position to be in to clean the loo too :D

So far the things I can't (or won't) do are:

1. Using the oven - it's too dangerous reaching in from the side to take out hot things. The microwave and hob are fine - particularly now I've worked out how to fill pans with water and how to get at the food when it's cooked.

2. Carrying things - especially liquid.

3. Remembering to take everything I need with me to avoid unnecessary and protracted trips back and forth.

4. Getting out of the house unaided - I can get out of the front door, but my path is so uneven at the bottom, I can't get off it - the wheelchair wheel just spins in mid air!

This is proving to be a really interesting insight into a different way of life.

I bet you're REALLY fed up now? How much longer do you have to be plastered up?

Must admit I do like listening to Radio 4 shows on my ipod - when I listen to music on the tram home I'll fall asleep, but radio shows keep me awake. I'll do music on my way into work, but words on the way home.
Hope the op goes well.

... catching out an annoying finance officer - had a query why we hadn't been charging rent to this property, so asked finance. They said they'd been told to stop charging, but were still charging these other properties on the street. Found a file from last year which clearly says that finance were told to set up accounts for this property and another property. This other property was one of the ones they mentioned as being collected for a while. So, last March they either failed to find a rent account they can now find, or only set up one account from a memo that requested two accounts be set up. Sheesh. And you wonder why Councils have such bad reputations for efficiency!

 I take it you haven't had an automatic before?

I drove one once ( a big old 1961 Ford Zephyr) but didn't quite think what would happen if I forgot and put my foot on the "clutch" (which of course isn't there). Yep. Emergency stop.

THEN the teacher starts at the 'proper' time of 9:30 and says sorry for starting late  Turns out the class is 9:15-12:15 but I was told 9:30-12:30  ]

Then this afternoon heading back to the dentist to have yet another top tooth removed. There are not many of them left now
