mmmmm. Malteser brownie birthday cake sounds yummy. I'm on my way. :D

and Bunny, that sounds pretty scary. Let's hope they find him soon.

and finally - would it be so bad to be in Hufflepuff? Weren't they all quite nice people? I suppose it's not cool to be nice.

I'm pretty sure I'm not a nice person any more. Especially when I'm feeling like this. In fact I'm a lot more like a rottweiller than a human just now. Could that be the 5th Hogwarts house, do you think?

I'll join you in the 5th Hogwarts hose and we can be not nice people together and I'll bring cake, which wasn't as bad as first thought.

Strep, that sounds wonderful. We could sit in a corner (not in this house because my central heating's just stopped working - I've been telling D that the boiler's been making a funny noise for 2 weeks, but as usual, the cobbler's children are always the worst shod, so he didn't look at it... ) and put the world to rights. You supply the cake and I'll supply the coffee. :D

This gets better by the minute. But you're only allowed in our club if you've got lots to moan about...

We had better find a central point I think and build a puzzlebrains refuge. How about Gill's caravan she'll never know

Good idea! All test solvers have to spend at least a week with me then I'll open it up to solvers. David has to be a permanent resident at all times.

Just you wouldn't want to go there just now. First of all its closed season and doesn't re-open until 1st March. Secondly I have 2 bathrooms to sort before it does. One has a cracked loo and the other needs a new shower  (Thats all down to the severe winter frosts). Just what I need on top of the new kitchen that is still not completely finished. Today I spotted that I have 2 different sets of tiles. Very close as they are speckled- but on one side I have white background and on the other side the background is grey. I'm guessing they thought I wouldnt notice because a door on each side splits the kitchen. Can I face having one side re-done or shall I make it a talking point?

Edit: I've just read the next posts- I can borrow the ones either side of me

Count me in!

Gill I had that problem with my tiles when we moved up here. The builders put in plain white tiles in the kitchen, but there were a few with a pattern on. The patterned ones had a greyish background. They individually removed all the patterend ones and put the white ones in. I think they thought I was being fussy, but it would have driven me mad.

Mind you having said that it's three and a hlaf years since we had the kitchen here fitted, and we've never got round to finishing the tiling. Bunnylump I'm a cobbler's wife too! Electrical engineer, with plugs hanging off the wall where the tiling hasn't been finished. The new tiles were thicker than the old ones, so the sockets needed longer screws.

 Does David REALLY want to be locked in a caravan with a load of moaning women??  I suspect he'd probably prefer to saw his own arm off with a blunt spoon... Although he might be tempted by the offer of cake and chocolate. Just as long as the offer came with free ear plugs...??

But I must say Gill, odd tiles would REALLY wind me up. For this exact reason I could never accept a "random" pattern (which is REALLY difficult to achieve).

It's flippin' freezing here. I might have to decamp to Mother's horrible house which is half emptied and full of spiders (and has foxes and badgers living in the brambles in the garden). At least that has HEATING which works...

Mine are in a random pattern, but I decided exactly where I wanted each tile and OH stuck them on acording to my pattern. It took ages to make sure it truly was random. There are four colours and there were more of two of the colours because I wanted mainly the lighter shades. In fact there is absolutely nothing random about it.

I did that in an my old house. Each horizontal and vertical had only one tile that was different. Random look but it wasn't. Maybe we need an OCD club too.

we have a friend who's kitchen was tiled in four colours, and they rolled a die to determine which colour went where. Now that was random!

I tried that, but it didn't look random enough. :D

 I'd HALF join that OCD club. Things like patterns and symmetry really do my head in. Anything else I don't care about. I live in a complete scene of devastation most of the time (everywhere's always really untidy - as Gill and Scurra have witnessed!). The mess doesn't worry me at all. In fact, I only lose things when I start to tidy up. If I've got things in heaps I can always locate them... In the garden I have to have the EXACT opposite of "organised". I LIKE it being all overgrown and with self seeded plants (other people would probably call them weeds, I don't). I do cringe sometimes when people first come here, because I can SEE what they're thinking. But THEY don't live here, and I do. So there.

My Mum always used to follow D around her garden when he was mowing it (no mean feat) saying "now, you mustn't mow that bit, the XXX butterflies like those weeds". "Oh, no, leave that self - set wheat from the bird table, the birds eat that." "Don't go too close to that bit, you'll disturb the badgers".

Blimey. If Bunny thinks she lives in a mess, then she's even more delusional than I thought! I know people tidy up a bit when visitors come, but her place was astonishingly neat and tidy... (And I should know. I have four chairs in my living room, but you can only actually sit in one of them because the others are filled with "stuff". And, sadly, Wulfruna can attest to that.)
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.
All of my puzzles are simple and obvious. For certain values of "simple" and "obvious".
