I don't know what's happening to me as I get older, but I'm much more happy and confident about saying what I think. I did it totally casually on the hands-free unit while driving on my way to work

no big deal at all.
I feel I'm a regular contributor to both the morning and the tea-time talk shows, and presenters on both shows 'recognise' me by name/town. It is VERY like being on these forums - a core of regular contributers and a variety of first-time people driven to phoning by the topic in hand.

Our boiler's broken.

It's only just over a year old and was serviced in January. The only appointment I could get for tomorrow is between 8 am and 6pm . I've told them I will be in until 3.30pm I can be in all day, but I need to be free to run around in small circles from 3.30 onwards. She offered me the evening, or the afternoon, or Saturday morning, none of which I can do. The boiler made a noise like a car backfiring when I turned the heating on, so I don't want to leave it too long in case it's leaking gas.
Aaaagh! And I have a migraine.
The only bright spot of my day was solving a puzzle this morning.

Ok I exaggerated. It was only one sweaty cricketer, but the dancing elephant also had me running up and down with pans for her bath.

I hope they can fix it tomorrow, I'm expecting my ex sweaty cricketer to turn into two muddy footballers this weekend.

This is why, when D installed our central heating all those years ago, he left the immersion heater there as well, and also installed a separate flame gas fire in the old fireplace in the living room. That way, if the boiler blows up (quite likely at the mo - it's had a temporary fix but is still needing parts) we can still have hot water and a warm living room. Quite sensible, really!! Although, if we ever do move or do up a house he has plans for installing things like ground source heat pumps and solar panels.

Mind you, at this rate we'll be dead before that happens.
PS How do you turn a muddy cricketer into TWO muddy footballers?

So one cricketer equals two footballers? Blimey, remind me to stock up on cricketers. They sound like good value!! How many basketball players does that make?

Good news! Boilerman came.
Bad news! He stuck a label on my boiler saying not to try turning it on and left. He has volunteered his colleague to come back tomorrow with parts. Hopefully the right ones. You should have seen him jump when the boiler did an imitation of a car backfiring.

Well do listen to him.
My brother used to be an x ray and scanner engineer. He was really angry when he went to a private hospital, checked out a scanner and declared it to be unsafe, putting one of those notices on it until a part could be sourced. When he came back he realised the hospital had taken the label off and continued to use it "because they would have lost so much money if they'd cancelled the scheduled operations".

After that he started taking out a crucial part so they COULDN'T use it.
But then there's private medicine for you.

There's no way I'm turning it on. The loud bang it made yesterday when I put it on was enough.

He did comment that if he didn't put the sign on it would be his fault if it blew the end off the house.

Well, today, I've mostly bin watching 24 hour panel people on bbc red nose day site. It's been good so far. QI is on in the middle of the night though, which I'd really like to see, so might have to stay up for it. There's been a lot of insight into how things work on tv shows like that, and how much editing they have to do to be able to put them out before the watershed too!

Booking flights to Belfast for a certain date in June
Done Fraggle- times are on a PM. Now its just a case of keeping the groom and the OH apart the night before the big event.

Today I went to the craft fair and spent a fortune - then went out for lunch . now sitting back relaxing.
Also trying to work out what to clear out - We have the decorator coming on Monday to do the Hall. Dont envy his task. We live in what is called an upper cottage flat. It is four fats in a block -we are upstairs so we have fourteen internal stairs and on the upstirs there are 7 doors. So the poor chap is going to have to a lot of cutting. So I have 3 days off in whic to concentrate on puzzles etc......
Had an interisting few days at work - I currently work in a call centre and we were taking calls from other banks - normally it is fine BUT I fot the bank of Seville - I had difficulty understanding them and I had to spell everything out phoneticlly! For some reason my work name which is Pat causes all foreign banks difficulty and my surname even more. So I had to keep repeating papa , alpjha tango .......................it was a nightmare - which only resulted in all my collegues laughing whilst I was struggling on the call - next time they can ge the bank of Seville

My B-i-L Philip works for Santander and was at a meeting where they put people's names in the minutes as their initials. He was wondering how they would distinguish between him and the other one with his initials and noticed that they had him down as F instead of P (Felipe)
