Getting more and more frustrated as we have had no Internet since Sunday. My OH has let me borrow his i-pad so I am doing a catch up on what has been posted in the last week.
I have been doing quite well with a jigsaw though.

I'm TERRIBLE at jigsaws. I suppose it's because I can't see well enough. But I always end up losing a piece... I tried KNITTING a few weeks ago. I did actually manage to make myself a sparkly curly scarf - just in time for the spring...

I think that's the best part of the job for some of my colleagues - they are given plans and get to colour them in.
We used to have to do that a lot, before colour photocopiers arrived so everyone got to do it, now it's only the people who get need to mark up the blank plans they are given.
Perseverance: - the courage to ignore the obvious wisdom and carry on anyway

I used to do that too, eirian, when I worked as a building surveyor. Before any of my plans got submitted to the planning office they had to be coloured in with coloured pencils. I can't imagine you have to do much of that nowadays because most plans are drawn using computer programs these days. (Spoilsports!!)

When my kids (as in K and D, not the kids at school) used to do coursework, their teachers used to say we couldn't help them apart from colouring in things like graphs and charts. I ALWAYS did that bit. But I must admit to also drawing some sewage indicating bug species for D's geography coursework on a river study because our printer broke at the crucial time near a deadline. Even though I say it myself they were really good! :D

Thinking about where to go and get something to wear for our Fraggles wedding. I have constraints. It has to be non crease or easy iron because it has to go in hand luggage. I have the body shape to consider too.............

I also need shoes !!! Shoes for me are winter=boots, summer = toe posts. Neither appropriate :? .

Then she comes out with the immortal words:
I know I'll be calm once you are here!
Translated that means keep Colin and Ivan sensible the night before- that is probably the hardest task I've ever had put before me!!"!!

   Well, all I can say to the latter is GOOD LUCK on that! But then if Ivan looks like something the cat dragged in after a heavy night I don't suppose it'd be the end of the world, just as long as he GETS THERE... It's Fraggle who needs to be looking beautiful. And of course, she will. :D (If we don't get to see the photos I WILL sulk and pout BTW!!) ;)

I always head for John Lewis if I have anything smart to go to (virtually never: weddings or christenings and that's about it!). OR (now here's a plan) could you try something on here and then order it on the internet and get it posted to Fraggleland? That way it wouldn't have to be screwed up in hand luggage...

Right. Off to buy my niece a birthday present.

No you don't. I've got a photo of you pinching a mummy's bum which comes up from time to time in my electronic photo frame. It makes me smile every time I see it!

looking after a stressed Olly - We have a painter in decorating the hall. Poor Olly was shut in the livingroom with me - normally he has a free run of the house and he could not understand what the scratching noises were. when the painter left Olly set off exploring - he did not like the look of the walls

Ah well - it will be better tomorrow

Good luck with the wedding plans fraggle

 Well, just as long as YOU like the walls, that's the main thing!!

Well, today was my only day in at work today. And some of the people at work got wind of the fact thet it was my birthday later this week. And yes, it did get mentioned in morning briefing...so I spent all day having teachers wishing me happy birthday (even though it isn't my birthday!), being kissed etc. Break time, went into the staff room, and they had got me a big chocolate cake, a massively embarrassing balloon with the awful truth plastered all over it, chocolates, a card, and £50 worth of M and S vouchers. :D

Now, yes, it was all very kind and very well meant. But I HAD hoped to let this one slip by. It's NOT a good birthday. :( Anyway, feeling really, really OLD, I drove myself off to London Colney (massive M and S) and did some retail therapy. Got a nice new purply grey coat, and then hit the lingerie department in a big way. Bought two underwear sets which were TOTALLY unsuitable for someone of my advanced years and size. Yep, cerise pink with penny sized white polka dots and brilliant purple.  And do you know what? I feel SO much better now. (EDIT For explanation of this bizarre statement see over next page)...

Tosh and Fiddlesticks. I spent part of this afternoon persuading an 86 year old woman to learn to use the word processor so she can tell all the fascinating stories that on-one else knows. So don't YOU start with the numbers game :P

 I don't see anything inappropriate there - but you might be making a certain Jester blush due to "too much information".

This morning I bin.... doing my 30-minute micro-teach at college on the subject of [since there were no serious attemptes at guessing  ]

Defence against a Cross-Wrist Grab.

[Think of someone reaching to shake hands with you, but grabbing your wrist instead]

The session went OK, but I think I was more put-off by the filming of it than I expected - and enough outside influence mess-ups went on to show I was a bit off my game.

Still, I got my class (of 4) laughing, which is my measure of wether I can teach them stuff. That was actually the first problem - class of FOUR - I was expecting 6 or 7 and one activity was individual with each person in the class so I suddenly had far too much time :( Still - it's not a subject I've ever taught (my own personal challenge) so everything was new.

Good feedback from my tutor and the 'students', and some nice comments from them in private afterwards. Just annoying that I could have been better.
