grr yes I know, it's what I typed but the "helpful" autocorrect on my Android overruled me without my noticing.
(and if I'd not noticed and overruled the overruling there would be over a dozen more things wrong with *this* post)

Is that Tiny Pig's hat?

Yes it is...

Great!!! I'm cold. I'm filthy. Something stung my hand. And I kicked a plant pot.

Do you know HOW DARK it is out there in the garden? I couldn't even find the blasted creepy crawly never mind ask if it had an alibi for the alleged food consumption

 But...but...in the book, it says "One Sunday morning, the warm sun came out and POP! out of the egg came a tiny and very hungry caterpillar..." So you should have looked this morning. Then there would have been warm sun, silly.

I've decided that the way to go is to ONLY do them when I'm "in the zone". That usually occurs about once every six weeks, so I have to pick my moment carefully.

Not sure if I've had a zone in the last four months, mind. They seem to have deserted me and left me zoneless and brain dead. Bit worrying really. So maybe I'll be "in the zone" once every six months instead? Who knows, next magazine, maybe I'll WHIZZ through in record time. Mind you, if that happened I think Scurra might fall off his perch in amazement...

I feel in the zone, but just too busy to look at them. And too exhausted by the end of the day.

I can't even read in the evenings because I can't concentrate. It seems I'm either working flat out, doing housework, or clearing a house. I had "a weekend off" this weekend and boy, am I paying for it now. :| If I sit down to watch the telly I fall asleep. So books are out of the question -hence the total lack of sensible comments to make on this thread.

You mean people who carelessly use words like "immediately"?

I had a fairly long delayed start on USA, so I plan to roll it over into the next two months. [There are reasons why I think I can do that this time] So expect further questions in those threads since I'm making very little headway on a number of puzzles :(

Hey, I'm quite happy to delay the next issue if you're all so completely stuck on the current one.

Well you know how stuck we are. :(

But maybe we're looking forward to the next issue so we can forget about this one. :D

I can't remember the zone. I'm so far out of the zone I think the Voyager space probe is closer to the zone. I did have a brief moment when I thought I was heading back towards the zone with this issue, but it was really just a case of a gravitational slingshot to accelerate me away again even more quickly.

... The Making of Modern Britain by Andrew Marr, which covers the events of 1900-1945. It's the sequel/prequel* to his A History of Modern Britain which covered the period 1945-2008.

*Sequel because it was written after; prequel because it covers the period before.

I don't know about being in 'The Zone', but for me I can only tackle puzzles when I'm 'In The Mood'.
As for delaying, I delayed starting 'Gulliver' for two weeks (one to solve the 'Shakespeare' Meta, and the other to get over it!) and 'Sherlock' for four (due to the delayed start on 'Gulliver').
I've done all but the Meta for 'Gulliver', and 'Sherlock' still has two puzzles unfinished (never mind the meta, though I have got an answer for the Logic).
I tried to use the time during 'Detectives' to catch up, but didn't manage it.

...well actually just finished, a rather good article from The Observer last Sunday.

It's all about internet forums and what happens when "hiding behind anonymity" becomes the normal way to communicate. (For what it's worth, I agree that there are times when this is important, but most internet forums are not one of them! And yes, I use a pseudonym, that's true, but I don't try to hide my real identity.)

Just read my first Nora Roberts novel, Blue Dahlia from In the Garden trilogy. I saw it in a charity shop and because her name was used in a puzzle I tried it out. Lets just say I couldn't put it down and have ordered the other 2 of the trilogy on Amazon. I'm not quite sure what I made of it though

I first discovered Nora Roberts when I was living in USA. Have read lots of her books but found several I hadn't read in a new charity shop recently. So in the last couple of months I've read another five.

Nothing wrong with charity shop buys. I bought the following a few weeks ago:
Schott's Original Miscellany - £1 (local hospice shop)
Schott's Food & Drink Miscellany - £1.50 (CLIC shop)
Schott's Sporting, Gaming & Idling Miscellany - 50p (Age UK shop)

Stieg Larsson, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Didn't much fancy the film at first sight but this book was recommended to me. I've ordered the rest of the Millennium trilogy already. Not my usual type of book but I'm enthralled.
