It sounds like my idea of HELL

I've offered to go and sort out the Memphis system - but they haven't taken me up on it yet ;)

I can do 'ancient and complex'

Does "ancient and complex" sum you up nicely then? How can you be my bro? I'm ancient and simple myself... :P

Complexity is in the eye of the beholder - at least, according to Scurra ;)

My rule still stands... If a computer situation prompts you to say "There MUST be a simpler way.....", then ask me - there probably is!

No, believe me there is a simpler way. It's called pen and paper...

I have long maintained that you should always get a lazy person to do an IT job. Because they will spend hours setting things up so that they never have to do it again. Not that I'm speaking from personal experience, you understand...
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.
All of my puzzles are simple and obvious. For certain values of "simple" and "obvious".

I tell (some) people that there is a very fine line between efficiency and lazyness - and I'm very....... efficient ;)

Today I've mostly bin....

trying to microwave mushy peas without them boiling over, whilst simultaneously trying to watch the telly.

Not an easy combination!!!

.... restraining myself from killing someone in the Admin department.

A message came through for my absent assistant about why they couldn't do HIS car mileage for the month of March - which impressed the hell out of me that he'd managed to get the forms in so quick.

Then the comment was passed that today was actualy the last day for getting the claims in to hit the next wage packet.... AND... since it's year end, anything arriving after today would need executive approval  We were using both our cars up to and on Tuesday (31st March) due to the bus losing it's clutch, and today's date check is.. !!!!????

I pointed out that I hadn't been BACK to the office 'this month', much less tried to get the paperwork done - but I could get back in the afternoon and email the stuff to my boss to be approved..... EXCEPT they pointed out that it then wouldn't have MY signature on it.

When I got back to the office and looked at my 'running total' spreadsheet, I then realised that after all year doing little bits and pieces around the area, THIS was the month that I'd driven to SHEFFIELD and back for a training day.

So I filled in the forms, printed them out, signed them, drove into town (in the bus), jogged to the library, put them on my bosses desk for signature (when she came out of the meeting she was in), TOLD the admin staff what I'd done and where the forms were, then RAN back to the bus to be in time for the automated virus update that kicks in at 4pm (ready or not). every Friday. Whew!!!

Sorry? What??? What do you mean this isn't the whinge thread????

Totally knackered tonight for some reason [it's been a loooooong week]. so I'll use this as the Goodnight thread as well.... GOODNIGHT ALL :D

I've got lots of vinyl records but nothing to play them on (record player broke ages ago).

Your bike's taking a long time BB! What's the problem now?

... getting the info for Lord Lang. I already knew what it was about, but needed to get the lowdown on locations. And there is a connection with Lord Vetinari - mentioned in TCOM.

Just back from holiday in northern Ireland (yes, did the rope bridge) and wondering whether I've got the strength to tackle Vetinari.

Now then Bunny. Send my your vinyl and I'll bounce it for a very good price ;) ;)

The issue with the bike is the factory in Milwaukee going onto reduced production. Bimmin' credit crunch again. :( :(
