Yesterday in RE the kids were acting out "news report" sketches about Jesus' miracles. I was helping a group who were doing the one about the paralysed man by the Pool of Bethesda. We had an "anchorman", a reporter, and interviews with the paralysed man, and two witnesses. I ended up being one of the witnesses who had " pushed my way to the front, kicking some of the disabled people out of the way because I wanted a swim". (My name was "Bob".)

But one of the other groups made me laugh. Their miracle was the exorcism of the Gerasenes demonic. Their reporters interviewed one of the pigs (it wasn't a particularly interesting interview, because obviously the pig could only "oink") and another interview with Legion, although sadly, they only interviewed him BEFORE he had been exorcised, so all he could do was scream.

Brilliant. And yes, before you ask, I do spend as much time as possible at work PLAYING.

Well wouldn't you, given the chance? :D :D

I egged one of the young male science teachers on into
a) having a press up competition in the classroom with a year 9 boy (we managed to relate it to health and fitness) and
b) seeing what would happen if we mixed ALL the chemicals together instead of just a couple of them. We ended up having to evacuate the classroom and leave the windows open for about 10 minutes.

My six year old's come home from school with a cardboard cone with the top cut off made to look like a volcano and a letter from the school to say their homework is to make an eruption. They kindly provided the 'recipe' and instructions - so out comes the bicarb, vinegar (we've not got any lemon juice) and red food dye. He absolutely loved it (had to take a pic for his school book), but the kitchen now smells of vinegar and our hands are a lovely red colour!

Well, that would certainly be a result.

Liking the idea of the snake, Clvrlad, and Maisie - I've done that in geography - it's fun isn't it? Mind you I'm glad I don't have to do it in MY house!!

Lally went to Fernando's school the other day for morning with some of the other children who have been offerred places. They had a history lesson, acting out the battle of Hastings. She stood on a table (hill) and threw paper at the ones on the floor. They had a great time.

I gave up on history when I was 13, because the teacher just stood at the front and talked and we had to make notes. I was totally incapable of working out what to write and was a very slow writer and got very left behind. What a difference an imaginative teacher makes.

I know what you mean. All I can remember about history lessons at school was interminable working through the textbooks and learning about KINGS and QUEENS, It totally turned me off the subject.

All I remember about history is the teacher writing in my book "Finish Henry viii" and the following week "Finish Henry viii or else!" I don't think I ever finished him off, and I never found out what else was.

I don't remember anything about history at school. I must have studied it for a couple of years at least I suppose but I have no recollection of anything we learnt.

I was like that with RE. Now if I'd had to act out being Bob the unsympathetic bather or interview a pig then I probably would have remembered it MUCH better!! :D (Kingsley and Fernando, shut your ears)I can remember lots about what I did when I was getting thrown out of lessons though...

Say what you like, Fernando isn't here. He's run away from home :( (Seemed to think a week in Austria was more appealing than a week here)

Blimey that's a bit forward thinking of your school Clvrlad, there are schools round here who are just starting to adopt that idea...Mind you I would have been rubbish at that. I'm good at things like geography (because they are logical and a bit scientific) but I'm rubbish at anything which requires memory for dates and sequences, like history. This'll tell you how rubbish I am - I've been doing roughly the same syllabus for history for the past 10 years and still can't remember which flaming US President did what when. Basically I think it's down to NOT CARING.

And lucky Fernando, is all I can say!!! It's all right for some isn't it? :D We will look forward to our virtual edelweiss rock when he gets back then. Or whatever it is they sell in Austria?? ;)

SPOT ON! *Mumbles.... Stupid flaming Jacobite Rebellion... who gives a flying...*

I remember we had to draw and plot out maps of where the different forces were, and who travelled where before they started getting clobbered.... Totally mind-numbing :(
