Watching two great games of rugby.

My dream final would be Wales v New Zealand - just for the spectacle of free flowing rugby

Sorry everone for England

...putting out an APB to all my local friends to attend a gig. It suddenly hit me that in all likelyhood I would end up on my own, listening to the dreaded Stanley Dee at a pub this afternoon. Don't get me wrong, they are VERY good at what they do, but I DON'T LIKE STEELY DAN. I was relieved when eight of them texted back to say that they'd see me there. Oops. I didn't bank on the fact that it would be REALLY heaving there. So much so that once you got IN to the pub, you couldn't MOVE. It was literally wall to wall people, in a small pub, with ALL the windows shut. It was BOILING hot (poor D, who was drumming, was soaked from head to foot). So all my lovely, supportive friends got jammed into the melting pot to suffer alongside me. Oops.

 Well, it's actually an ALL POINTS BULLETIN, which of course it isn't really. But that's what I call it when I send out a massive group text with a plea for urgent support of some kind or other... It really was unpleasant in that pub. I feel quite guilty...

Maybe they enjoyed it - presumably they could have gone home again if they'd wanted to. I take it that D was the "suspect" in question!

Yes, he was the one performing the criminal act...(which is how I would describe liking Steely Dan)!

...Having a nightmare day.Largely because my boss doesn't know her a**e from her elbow. In short - ended up with a specialist observing a rugby match, setting up a meeting room in 3 minutes flat and hosting a meeting with parents that I was totally unprepared for. Still, I obviously did something right. The specialist told me at the end I should get a "headteacher's sticker" for quick thinking and ingenuity!!  I'm completely exhausted now though. I think it's the adrenaline climb down...

.....all on my own in the office as nobody else could be bothered to go in!
To be fair, a couple are on their way to the US, and one had a meeting which meant it made more sense for her to work from home. But two others just didn't come in for no apparent reason. :(

And until that point, a great form of stress creation? :D 8-)

I'm sure you're enjoying it really though strep, and you'll get a great result in the end.

... discovering another new form of exercise. Deep Water Aquafit

Normal aquafit sessions have you standing in the pool doing movements [the accent here is on 'standing']. For tonights class you get fitted with a big float-belt that puts a boyancy aid in the small of your back and then you head down the pool out of your depth - no touching the floor.

Various actions - jogging, pushing and pulling water, punching, jumping jacks (???), bicep curls, etc while trying to stay upright and not drift into the others doing the class as well. That very last part of the sentence is the most difficult  and leads to the other exercise - laughter

At one point we each got two long tubular floats [I've heard them called woggles and noodles up here - heaven knows what you call them down south]. Putting a foot in the middle of each one and pushing straight down they curl upwards to about knee height (no problem with that). The trouble was that when you then do 'stair climbing' motions, then ends of the woggle come a good deal higher and can end up very uncomfortable (especially for us guys ;) ). Lose concentration and the boyancy will very quickly bring one or both feet to the surface - no necessarily in the same direction :o :? More laugher....

If you like the pool, then this is an interesting diversion and a lot less boring than swimming lengths.

I've done similar classes MBH. The pool isn't quite deep enough to go out of my depth but at least half the class was spent floating and otherwise keeping feet off the bottom. And I think they call those things the same down here. We bought one years ago on holiday in France where it was called a Fun Noodle but my OH persisted in calling it a Pot Noodle despite having no idea what a pot noodle realy was! The funniest thing I've ever done at an Aqua class was when we played that party game where you pass a large ball down the line by putting it between your legs under water. I wasn't too bad at it but some of the women there were too short to manage it properly and we all ended up in hysterics. :D

....and I've been on my own again for most of the day but this time at home as I don't usually work on Wednesdays. But OH was out most of the day and although he was home for supper he has now gone to bed so I have no-one to talk to again. :( I'M LONELY :(

I don't get lonely. I think I must just be a natural hermit. There's nothing I like better than having the house to myself ALL DAY. Trouble is, I enjoy my own company so much that I then get all irritable is someone dares to ring the phone or knock at the door... How dare they disturb my "doing nothing and staring at the wall"?

Today I have been...
working, all day, followed by buying up half of Sainsbury's home baking department, coming home, making the tea, and then my daughter came home. We ate our tea at about 6pm, then started some serious baking. We have only just finished!! I needed loads of cakes to take into work tomorrow - the CoPE pupils are running a MacMillan cancer care coffee morning. We've made red velvet cupcakes decorated with frosting and iced rosebuds, miniature carrot cakes, and lemon drizzle cupcakes. They look great and will hopefully raise lots of money for the charity. Trouble is that I have only just sat down for the first time since 7am. And I'm absolutely shattered!

Oh I also love having the house to myself but I do admit to feeling the need to have someone to talk to from time to time.

Mind you I had three phone calls today from "Home Survey". Three different people each with a very English sounding name but an accent that came from somewhere on the Indian Subcontinent. So when the third one said he was conducting a short survey I asked him the name of his company. "Home survey" "That's your company name?" "Home survey" "Home survey is the name of your company?" "Yes". "Where are you based?" "London" "What part of London?" "East London". "Can you tell me the postcode?" "No I can't do that." "Well I'd like to know a bit more about your company. why can't you tell me the postcode?" "Why are you asking me all these questions?" "Well you have rung me up to ask me questions, I just want to know a bit more about the company you work for" He hung up on me!

Brilliant - nice one  They have no idea how to deal with someone with a brain between their ears.

Sorry to hear you're feeling lonely. Like Bunny, I'm more than happy for solitude and regularly wish for it..... but no luck
