I can't see why he can pay a restaurant, but not you. I think that is very insulting.

It's cos I'm really doing him the favour and he can smuggle an restaurant bill through on his expense claim.

I have my eye on a Japanese restaurant we all went to in London a few months ago for my birthday I think. It was very nice. :D

The men turned up yesterday and started the drive. They are nearly finished, but I will be so glad when they have stopped making such a racket! Big wacker thing and heavy roller since 8.15 this morning, compacting the hardcore and two layers of tarmac. The whole house is vibrating and all the glasses in the kitchen are jiggling.

Next door have very kindly said I can park on their drive while the work is in progress, but I had to go food shopping this morning and then bring all the bags over the wall! It was my first big shop since Christmas, so there was quite a lot of it. I might have been more organised if I hadn't been expecting the workmen last Thursday and planned life around that.

:o How have you managed to get away without going shopping for so long with all those children?? I only have me, D and the galoot (well, and the cat) to feed, and shopping rarely lasts the week...

Today I've mostly bin...getting a surprise spot inspection from JCQ at work on the exam access arrangments (that's the bit I have taken on - huge job with lots of parts to it). :o Good news is that it passed with flying colours. Phew. I was particularly pleased because I have done the whole thing without a day of training. (Sorry, that sounds smug, doesn't it? But I was just so relieved!!) :D :D

Well done bunny! Sounds like deserved smugness. :D

I didn't say I hadn't been shopping, but I hadn't done a proper big shop. I clearly bought far too much food for Christmas, and after eating too much at Christmas we've been living off simple meals.

Thank you. It's actually quite nice to be told you are doing something right for once. I think I terrified the inspector by offering to show him my 15 giant files of evidence, three databases and about 500 online applications. 8-)

And re the food: I must admit that my son is a bit like a swarm of locusts. Or should I say stalk - eyed flies? Sorry, that probably sounds quite random, remember last year it was crickets? This year it is stalk eyed flies.

They take FOREVER, don't they? When I applied for my current job, bearing in mind I already worked there and they already knew me, it still took me 4 hours to complete the application.

We went up to London today. We had vague hopes of getting tickets for the Leonardo exhibition at the National Gallery but today's tickets had all gone by the time we got there so we went to the Courtauld gallery instead. I'd never been but keot finding myself thinking "Gosh they've got that here!" Lots of paintings I recognised and it was really quiet there too :D
I also watched the skaters for a while from one of the windows and one fellow visitor commented with a certain amount of truth that they looked like a Lowry painting. I was very tempted to have a skate but my OH wasn't interested so I didn't. :(

You're making a lot of assumptions there.
1 - that he could have worked out how to use the camera on my phone as we didn't have an actual camera with us.
2 - that he could have worked out how to post the result on Youtube
3 - that I would have fallen over! :P
