i did wonder where youd been
i happened to suggest doing a mag based on canals, well on dark tunnels and high aqueducts thought it might have piqued your interest

The longest tunnel is Standege, The one the cow swam through (reputedly) is Foulridge. Highest aqueduct is Pontyscyliate (stand to be corrected on the spelling of that!)

Yes, that's quite some aqueduct!

Went across it when we had a canal holiday with some friends during university. There's a footpath beside the water on one side, but on the other side there is absolutely nothing between you and the bottom of the valley below! Exhilarating!

Now I must say that is a very fine "bridge". Especially as it's from the SIDE view. As you now know about my innermost, disturbing bridge fetish I can now say this in public.

HOWEVER... the sheer drop / looking down malarkey from ON TOP. Now that's just WRONG. :o

I took a picture of a bridge JUST for you earlier in the week. Nice and safe - pedestrian only - and it doesn't TILT until everyone is off it :D

Splendid. :D (Nice picture). You did have to spoil it by mentioning the TILTING though... :?
