And tomorrow's excitement is the treasure hunt I have planned for my Extra English class. :D I've got clues planted in pages in books in the library, challenges posted all over the school, and real (chocolate) treasure where X marks the spot...

And before anyone moans, yes it is educational. They have to read all the clues, find things the right books in the library, choose correct homophones and then unravel a code in the key stage 3 office (and while they're doing that they are practising their alphabet and number skills) then they've got to go and find and use key terms and items in the science department. I doubt if they'll REALISE they are learning and working though...

Why would anyone on here moan that it isn't educational? (Indeed, to steal an old joke, whenever anyone solves one of my puzzles, they say "well that's taught me a lesson.")
I would hope that people have learned all sorts of useless things from Puzzlebrains over the last few years. :D

OED goes further and discribes them as a "unusual and pointless act"
usually organised via social media
Sounds like a puzzlebrains meet to me! :D

£700 lighter in the bank balance after a contract race. Not sure if I can actually be bothered to try again

Hey, that's awful - I'm so sorry Strep, just when you were so hopeful. Have a break and don't despair

Sorry to hear about you losing the house Strep but I have just accepted an offer for my mother's flat which has been on sale for 2 years. To make matters worse I had accepted an offer last year for £20,000 more but the buyer had an accident and ended up in hospital but because the missives hadn't been concluded the offer fell through. :( And then house prices fell again...But fingers crossed this time and hope you have better luck next time Strep.

We're just going through all kinds of hoops to try to sell Mum's house, and it's horribly complicated because the land is worth so much more than the house itself.
